If it is from a magazine it will have a different spec, re tuned suspension new wheels and a respray ...possibly an angle set so will not resemble the bike we may purchase.
Likely to be 650c or d based

Which magazine is it? Will it be as good as the WMB one where they disqualified a previous winner for being too cheap?

I predict it will be the one I've just bought.

If WhatMTB, then subscriber already know 😉
Haven't read the review but a quick glance say no stupid money bikes included. MMm'ok one £5800 which is just weird as the rest are £2500-£3300ish. The winner cost £2500 though, and just for Poah, I had a look through.. Can't see an Ad's from that company anywhere in the magazine

If it's WhatMTB then they were testing with us for a week. Lots of very different bikes ridden a lot, will be really interesting to see what wins out in the end.

Will it be great value at £3k and ripe for an upgrade?

The Commencal does look pretty decent, and £2500. I was slightly surprised that 6 of the final top 10 are on single front ring setups though. Obviously not marketed at old blokes who ride up big hills 😀
