Would you?
Just sorting out a nice light set of Hunt wheels, probably GP5000 tyres, but I'm really not interested in going tubeless on the road. So would you run TPU tubes? Seems like plenty of mixed reviews with some folk loving them, and a great way to keep shaving weight in an important area. But, plenty of folk with bad experiences too. Are they really hit or miss, are they not durable long term? Would prob carry a standard butyl tube as spare, as a known quantity.
I know, first world problem. Writing this, I realise how far I've fallen down the rabbit hole...
Everything I've read suggests they're a bit delicate... No direct experience but not a gamble I'd fancy for 50g or whatever...
As above, happy to stick to latex tubes.
I found the road sized ones useless - one was even faulty out of the box.
The Gravel size X Tour/city tubes are however excellent. I used them on some 40c tyres for 4 months without a single puncture (where I live punctures are very common) and only removed them as built up some tubeless wheels and I like tubeless but not sure why I didn't just carry on using them.
Got a few and no issues. Easier to fit than butyl ones for me. Ones I got are not that thin (ride now race formula).
I'm tubeless on the road bike. What hunt wheels did you get. I'm looking to get new deep carbon wheels 44-45mm most likely. Currently choice are the prime primavera 44.
