I'm just getting back into mountain biking after an 8 year break and for some reason (blow to the head, late night whiskey session etc etc!) I seem to have agreed to entering Mountain Mayhem this year... eek!! Was wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom or top tips they could offer that might stop me from collapsing in a heap in about 105 days time!! This is the first time I'll have done an event like this so feeling a little daunted 😳

tink

take all the cycling kit you own, enjoy it, it's not a race. Oh.

It's great fun, don't take it too seriously & enjoy it. Have a few beers friday night with loads of like minded people. gGuessing you're not going to try & win? So no point in getting too stressed.

Get some narrow mud tyres. Expect them to clog up 🙂

Just get a few regular rides in a week & it'll be a walk in the park.....

and relax. Alcohol or amyl nitrate may help.

An alternative opinion is spend your money on a weekend away on your bike somewhere a bit more fun.

Oh & check the showers before you take all your clothes off, to make sure nobody has had a crap in it...
I still have nighmares about that 🙁

Take a lightweight bike.
Easier to carry at 2:00am in the rain.

It's not called Mayhem for nothing.

But yes, take a sense of humour, all your clothes, all your spares and take it easy. AND GET SOME MUD TYRES!
