Hallo! Which one do you think is the best bike?
or

Mainly I am interested in the whole performance and not the value for money.
Anyone that has ridden any of these 2 to share his experience?
I have literaly just had that same choice as you! After comparing the two, I opted for the Capra AL Comp 29. I am 6’7” so prefer the reach and longer wheel base of the capra. Not to mention the 29” wheels. After putting the Capra on order, im now sat waiting from my bike as theres a backlog. An agonizing 2 months wait. Both bikes are outstanding value Though. I also looked at the Vitus Escarpe VRX on CRC. The top spec comes with Lyrik RCT3, Deluxe RT3 and SRAM GC Eagle 12 speed and boost compatability. Absolute steal with the current offer of £600 off a £2000 spend so it works out at just over £2000. I would have opted for it myself if the frame didnt come up small. Good luck choosing though. Fantastic bikes.
Edit - I realise your not too bothered about the VFM, but the reviews of the escarpe are brilliant. I think MBUK has a whole forum on the Capra so have a read through there.
I recently bought a 2018 capra 27.5 cf pro, I thought about buying a torque, but in the end didnt go for it for two reasons, firstly I preferred the spec of the capra, secondly the torque appeared a bit heavy on paper. compared to the capra.
I didnt ride the torque though, so cant give you any meaningful comparison in terms of how they ride. The capra seems pretty good to me , but I reckon the torque would also be great. I dont think you could go wrong with either really. So pick the one that you like the look of more?
I'm stil tweaking the suspension on the capra to get it to my liking, so its still early days.
The latest enduro mtb magazine has a comparison of the new torque and the new capra, the upshot was that they think the capra is better uphill and downhill compared to the torque.
mtb magazine has a comparison of the new torque and the new capra
...is it really possible to compare both?
I might be wrong - but in my opinion:
Capra = all mountain / Enduro ... (and some even use the Capra has trail bike)
Torque = Enduro / freeride / downhill?
Just making noise. Don't own an Capra, don't own an Torque
They both have the same amount of suspension travel, same wheel size, and are similar price so id say its fair to compare them.
so id say its fair to compare them
too bad that both don't have an coil shock...
The Torque is a bike where a coil shock would fit perfectly.
Don't know the weight of the Capra's but think the Torque is a heavy sled - for the really rough stuff. Would be a beautiful bike with an ... coil shock!
“Don’t know the weight of the Capra’s but think the Torque is a heavy sled – for the really rough stuff.“
The Enduro mag review basically says the Capra is better on the really rough stuff whilst the Torque is a better bike park bike for the smooth berms and jumps.
Andreas - you are aware that canyon have brought out a new torque and it is less of a downhill bike than last years torque?
Torque won MBUK bike of the year this year in the Enduro category against some stiff competition. Magazine feature was great - tested all the shortlist bikes over 3-4 months to get longevity testing done, the finalists tested out in San Remo. Video about it here:
The more progressive leverage curve on the Capra is actually more suitable for a coil than the Torque's.
Too much caffeine Andreas?
I'd defo go Capra over Torque but OP doesn't give any clue to his preferences.
Too much caffeine Andreas?
O.k. - I admit - I was wrong.
Lets put the coil shock onto the Capra then.
Enduro mag review
That's neat. Didn't expect that.
In other words: you need both - the Capra AND the Torque...
The enduro mag head to head review was rubbish. Their conclusion was basically that the longer (XL Capra ) bike was more stable and faster through the gnar while the shorter (L Torque) bike was more fun in twisty bermy jumpy sections.
No shit?
If instead they'd put an XL Torque against an L Capra what do you think their conclusion would have been?
Handy to know most bike media reviews are still not worth reading though.
Yeab , i also wonder how much time they spend on tuning th suspension or whether they just set the sag and then ride. It takes me ages to dial the suspension in to my preference on any bike. I suspect the torque and the capra are both pretty good and you cant go wrong with either.
