I took three bikes to an Enduro race event on Sunday...

and I only used the Klein. When it came to it the course was very bumpy, flatish but some technical sharp downs and ups. The singlespeeders didn't seem right as well as being fully rigid. Got me thinking if the 'niche' machines are a little too limiting. I would have liked to tried the unit 69er but as I was in a team I did not want to risk letting them don with a slow time 😉

I don't understand. How could you use 3 bikes? aren't 2 of those the same 😉

Oh and SS need not be slower IMO (though rgid - certainly)

what a waste of effort :s
they are far to similar to be worth it!

ide take my trance bouncy marathon bike, and a SS with mud tyres and a low ratio on, incase it gets hideous.

If it were me............

1 hardtail, summer tires, 27 gears, 130mm forks, spare mud tires

A mud bike would be nice (SS CX bike with flat bars?) but not essential.

I'm failry sure that by the time conditions mean the CX faster, everyone else would be going so slow youd be quicker in hiking boots and running round carrying a bike shaped object.
