Rad 😊
Tyres are a bit too bald for me.
Starting bid £999 !! Christ it will struggle to make £99
"Serious bidders only" = only idiots need apply.
what the hell is that even? i assumed "hone" was a miss type of "hope" but no.. they are hone....
i mean, i would have bid except the saddle isnt available with it :S
check out the rest of the crap for sale... i have no idea.... looks like someone that does garage clearance or something...
That's a proper Frankenbike, it really does look like it's been stitched together from the remains of several other bikes.
Hone was Shimano's old "aggressive but not downhill" line from several years ago. I think it would be equivalent to Zee these days.
If you look at the seller's other items....some good stuff there - especially the office chair '....with minor stains'.
I’m bidding simply because it has the biggest discs you can buy!
‘….with minor stains’.
the stem is slammed though
But just look at that bell! Surely that alone makes it worth a punt?

It was basically black LX
Poor fella, doesn't realise bikes have moved on in the last 20 years
I'd put a "make me an offer" of a fiver in, but I'm genuinely worried that I might end up with it!
The front wheel has a Saint 'brain'. That's got to be worth at least £500.
I like it ,if I was into retro bike nonsense
price not so much

That probably explains why it looked perfectly reasonable to me other than the hatstand price and the hatstand hose routing 🙂
I really liked the hone cranks back in the day. Like LX, but with steel inserts for the pedal threads and a steel axle. My crank of choice back when the DH option was Saint (which weighed about a million tonnes).
Still don't fancy that bike for a grand, mind 😀
Mongoose made some high end bikes in the early 2000s, but like the Grand Marquis, they were all pretty terrible. Pretty much why they disappeared from our shores.
This is what they came up with a few years later... yeush

There is some nice, albeit old, kit on that. The Dual Control Hone shifters are a particular highlight!
