Anybody got one? What do you reckon to it?

I bought a Titus Goldrush Gravel bike a few months ago, been genuinely over the moon with it, a far departure from previous offerings I’ve ridden from the PX stable…

Looks like my ideal “do everything” hardtail on paper, geometry not dissimilar to my old Kinesis Sync Ti 29er but crucially a little slacker HA and slightly steeper SA, literally the only things I’d have changed about that bike as a general XC use bike.

PX got one of their typical flash sales on right now too making it especially appealing… 🤔

Mboy off thread a bit but I also have a Goldrush and think it is really fab, did the badger divide on it and it is great! Quick question have you tried the geometry change? Seems like a bit of a faff to me as the rear mech changes in position so you have to shorten the chain and adjust the b screw, so hardly “on the fly” stuff. Was thinking of using a mech extender to keep it in the original position or even trying to get a separate mech hanger made with two mountings (1 for each position). Have been in touch with PX and they don’t have much insight into the change other than shorten the chain and adjust the b screw! Any thoughts?

Regarding my Goldrush Geometry, I didn’t even run it in the longer chainstay position (it’s 458mm like this which seems absurd for a Gravel bike!), I pushed the adjusters all the way forward and shortened the chain before I even rode it. Stays are 433mm long in this position iirc. Rides really well with 45c tyres, feels very natural/neutral for the type of bike it is.

A riding mate ordered one last night after firing some Q's at me about Titus in general (I use my Titus Mutsu Ti most days). I know they saw this PSA so might pop up! Think they were also looking at the full build Broken Road iT's but 650+ was off-putting.

@a11y that’s kinda what’s piqued my interest… Saw them when they came out, didn’t think £2399 for full build was too bad, but not exceptional considering there’s a few parts I’d change anyway so don’t wanna buy stuff I don’t need.

The new price is a lot more tempting. Basically paying the price for the frame direct from Waltly themselves, then trade price for all of the kit on it too, give or take…

No, but I bought a new Titus Fireline a few months back, to replace my 5 year old “old style fireline” that had been nicked. It looks like it’s just a slightly slacker version of the el viajero. It’s very well put together and the ride compliance is as good as the old Fireline, which I loved.

Well... I ordered one. Figured that I only really want the frame, but with the ridiculous price on the full bike, can sell everything else on and end up with a frame only to do a custom build on for less than I've sold previous Ti frames on for 2nd hand! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also have unfashionably sized down... I have long/low/slack bikes, I want this to be a bit of an old school antithesis essentially, albeit it will have wide bars and a dropper post still.

Previously Ive always bought frame only, and built myself, but deals on group sets and forks seem a thing of the past.

Really loved my old Fireline with Manitou Tower Pro forks -
I doubt the scrotes who nicked it even knew it was a Ti frame 🙁

Well I've been a little busy with work recently, but finally got round to stripping the OEM build down this evening...

The good news... It looks every bit as good quality as any other Ti frame I've seen, ovalised tubes here, plated chainstay there, shaped and tapered seatstays, nicely bent down and seat tubes, gorgeous head tube etc. REALLY impressed with it... Oh, and stripped of everything except the headset cups, rear axle and mech hanger, seat collar and the SRAM SUB BB it comes in bang on 2100g on the kitchen scales... So reckon on around 1900g frame only I'd say, which is light enough to turn into a decent XC bike for sure! This is a medium sized frame FWIW...

Just need to do it justice with the build now... Got a Fox 34SC to go on, probably SRAM X1 11spd I've got lying about, deciding between the SRAM G2R brakes it came with as I quite like them anyway or to lose a tony bit of weight and go for some 2pot Level's or equivalent. Wheel wise, got choice of my DT 240's on Stans Arch mk3's, some Mavic XA Elites, or possibly may go for some Hunt XC wides. Got a Fox 150mm dropper I'll probably use on it, probably 70mm stem and some 780mm wide Nukeproof low rise carbon bars. Should be a decent XC mile muncher when finished hopefully!

Don't know where the pic disappeared to in my last post! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just waiting on a couple of parts still, hopefully have it finished before Christmas and ready to ride. 👍🏻

That's a good looking frame, and the website claims it's triple butted, so hopefully rides with a bit of that Ti feeling. Apparently the OEM build is 13.8kg (30lbs), so it might need a bit of work to get it under 27lbs or so, but wheels/ fork/ tyres should save a big chunk of that.

Let us know how it rides when you get it built up!

Didn't weigh the full bike, did weigh some of the kit that came off it...

Wheels were just shy of 2300g for the pair!
Cassette around 620g
Forks another 2300g
Tyres were 980g each, and then around 200g per inner tube

Some of the stuff was surprisingly light actually, like the saddle @ 250g (albeit I can't use it as it's the wrong shape for me!) and the 1penny (seriously!) upgrade I paid for the carbon bars which are under 160g (and actually closer to 760mm wide than the 740mm they claim to be!).

But there's a LOT of weight to be saved...

Forks going on are around 1700g, so that's 600g saved.
Wheels will be around 1700g too, so another 600g.
Tyres around 750g each, and setup tubeless, so another 600g saved all in probably.
Cassette will be X01 so around 250g saved.
Swap the rest of my X01 off my Enduro bike with the GX off this for probably another 100-150g saving.
Probably save another 100g off the brakes
Got a sub 200g (and comfy!) saddle to go on so there's another 50g, and a lighter stem too.
Will be putting a Reverb on though, so probably adding back another 250g of weight there.

So as you can see, shouldn't be too difficult... 😂 I reckon 11.5kg with decently sturdy kit should be fine... There's a 10kg race ready bike in there if you want to throw money at it and compromise on the strength of components though!

Yo mboy! How’s the ride? And how’s the sizing? Is there cable guides for a front mech? I’m thinking about doing much like what you’ve done and swapping a load of bits around…

It looks like a sweet frame for sure.

Happy new year! 🙂
