Next year I'd like to do 3 events which I've not done before: L'Etape; Fred Whitton; 3 Peaks.
What's the general consensus on how to get into them? I believe Fred Whitton is the quickest to fill up?

Surely the only advice is apply ASAP?
I think the 3 peaks has other criteria and/or a lottery, and I've no idea about L'Etape. F-W and Etape you can ride the routes anytime though.
