I'm looking at getting a new pair of Time Atac pedals, but am put off by their high price. Since the SRAM takeover, they seem to have got way more expensive than their opposition. I can nearly buy two pairs of Shimano SPDs for the same price of their base model.
So if anyone has a pair lying about that they want rid of then let me.
Other than that, I just felt like a bit of an old man moan about the price of things these days.
You should look at clothing, nothing waterproof seems to start under £150 now..
Checking, Time MX's don't seem too ridiculous and I can get an older pair on discount, but I didn't know SRAM had bought them up though
There was a good reason why I went from Shimano to Time though, and I'm not tempted to go back (though I know shimano pedals are better nowadays)
Used to love Time pedals - the ATAC system is just better - Crank Bros mimic them but nowhere as good.
Think I've got some Time Zs still in the shed if you wanted something with a bit of a platform.
I've got a box of 'em since I went flats about 10 years ago. I'll have a look tomorrow and find the best pair. Nothing new but probably something with very little wear. If you want them postage and a small charity donation would cover it.

They've certainly gone up in price. I'm glad I bought a couple of pairs of MX2s from Merlin last year when they were heavily discounted, both less than £40. Based on my previous experience with Time pedals, they should keep me going for a while.

I wore through / broke one of the bars on one in summer - ended up rummaging in the pedal box and found a usable pair of the black / yellow carbon ones from 1997! (with an added self tapper in the end so I can pump a bit of grease in).
So as a v long time time atac user is there an alternative that has some of the same float platform benefits at a reasonable price?

HT pedals have the same lateral (i.e. side to side) float apparently, but I've no personal experience myself.

Still using a 20 year old pair of ATAC XS Carbon with second pair of brass cleats.
It was a few years later when ATACs went through a period of breaking.
@didnthurt - these were the best I could find in terms of cosmetic condition and super smooth bearings.

I was a long time fan of Time Atacs but with me there were two annoyances. First, when the cleats wore out I would get unplanned releases, mostly when out of the saddle. Second, new cleats would be so hard to release which would result in an occasional tumble like a first time user.
I migrated to Shimano SPD for a couple of weeks on hire bikes and didn't notice any difference and have stuck with them ever since. I know Time were supposed to be better in mud and grit but again, I've never had a clip in problem.
