Can anyone give some real world feedback on these two bike carriers for use with a van. I like the idea of additional clearance (25cm) on the xt 2 but unsure on how good the extra adaptor is. Does the xt3 allow a bike to be placed on the inboard slot without having to move the handle bars? Basically I need to transport an xl ebike and downhill bike on a regular basis with occasional 3 bike trips to france. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks guys
I have a Velospace XT3 on my Peugeot Partner. I can put my DH bike on the inboard position without the (800mm) bars touching. May be a little different on different towbars, but there is really quite a lot of space.
That sounds ideal. Can you load 3 bikes on it OK? Although I'll normally be using it for 2 bikes I'll need it to take 3 to france once or twice a year. My plan would be to use the inboard and out board slots if only using two bikes.
I have had my DH, my trail and an Islabikes Beinn on it before, but never 3 full size bikes. There's no reason I couldn't have done it though, looking at the way the Islabikes went on. Just be careful of towbar ratings and overall weight - my DH bike and my trail bike are over 32kgs together already.
I’ve got the 2, use it to carry a med 650b plus bike and normally my mates 29er, loads of space compared to my last rack it’s great! But it’s heavy!! Very heavy compared to previous racks but it’s designed for bigger bikes!
I'm tempted to get the xt 2 as it has a larger space between bikes and the extender for the 3rd bike as this connects to the second bike so isn't such a game if jenga? Has anyone used the extender, if so does it work OK?
