We will be in touch
After buckling a rim I have cobbled a wheel together for the first time by taking a rim off a spare wheel with a worn out hub. I have laced the wheel up in a three cross pattern taken from sheldon browns website and I appear to have the wheel running largely true. I am just not sure how much tension to put on the spokes.
Is there anything else I should do before going and finding some big drops to test it on?

Compare to another wheel you have? Look at the other end of your bike. 😉
If you've got another wheel with the same spokes, same size wheel, similar hub flange diameter, you can check by the note when you pluck a spoke. If they're different spoke lengths/thicknesses, you can go by feel, gripping pairs of spokes on the same side of the wheel. Obviously they'll be different each side cos of the dishing.
The fronts a bit ropey as well TBH, new set would be on the cards but have am pretty much broke as jut recently got married! Thanks though.
They should go ping, not <ping!> or pung.
