Pretty impressive

Saw Hoffman absolutely dominating at NASS a few years ago, think that's gotta the most memorable ride I've ever witnessed in the flesh.

That bit at 50 seconds defies physics.

Just imagine how good he'd be if his jeans didn't cut off the circulation to his legs. 🙂

Makes it all look so easy!

He's from my hometown, Leigh Park. Roit posh area! Great that he can come out of such a sh1thole and be one of the best in the world.

Until he learns the simple art of pulling his trousers up properly his riding skills are marked down in my world view.

Danny M is good and did well out of a web viral but...

better? You're joking surely, in terms of precision and skill BMX pisses all over most trials stuff.

Never seen a decade to 360. Amazing. All that 360 to icepick stuff is pretty clever too.

Tech-yes,although arguably Harry Main is close.Street-Nathan Williams,Cory Martinez=no chance, not even close.Trails-less than zero style.Park-Dan Dhers-Maddog.All round riders means Gary Young,Mike Aitken,Dennis Ennerson who can shred ANYTHING.Webby is amazing-but a little one dimentional. And yes I have seen him ride at Corby aswell.
Allround non bmx-Affy.Easily.

Danny M. is good, but I remember watching the viral with a friend who was dead impressed, and thinking, this is like watching Sunday League football, its good if you've never seen football before.

Amazing. Was great to see him riding in the Dew Cup last year after one of his other homemade vids was posted on here.

I love watching BMX park. It's more spectacular than any other discipline in cycling for me.

Although very impressive, it doesn't really do much for me, I think it's because it's just tricks in a purpose built skate park by some kid with his arse hanging out of his jeans. I'd probably much rather watch vid of Jedi tottering on a log and certainly MacAskill or Akrigg getting creative using an urban landscape or the local woods.

That guys is amazing, those spinning round and landing on the pedal things are great. lots of very technical stuff I don't understand. But I'd rather watch Danny M anyday, just looks so creative and smooth and flowing.

But what do I know, I'm just an early 30s mtber who used to be able to jump a few sets of doubles but now has trouble with high kerbs 😆

Youtube is blocked where I am but if this is the one where he rocks up in a turbo'd mk2 Golf it is definitely one of the best shorts i've seen on the web; Brighton ain't ready (which I think is on Pinkbike) is pretty awesome too.

the irony of this is that he aint even the best! oh he's very good don't get me wrong... but BMX is just insane right now.

not to sound too much like a weeny child... but my gosh chase hawk riding trails is still the most epic thing i have seen in my life.

aitken, hawk and brian foster all make me want to cry they are so good.

which is why fitlife is still the best biking dvd in the world. ever. fact.

(i am not 16 i'd like to point out briefly)

BMX riders who end up riding other types of bikes tend to do quite well...

"BMX riders who end up riding other types of bikes tend to do quite well..." and most of the BMX crossovers that made waves in Mountainbiking were not the best of the best.

I would really love to see someone really good like Mirra, Ruben or Cramner at a slopestyle event.

Watch this guy - Ruben Alcantara.....

[url]

Massive transfers into wallrides.

Look out for 2.20 and 4.20 mins.

Mark Webb is fantastic though. First saw him in the Bangers and Mash vid on You Tube. There is another vid of him on You Tube doing a fakie roll back on a mini ramp into front flip - you would never think it was possible.

Yep BMX is where the flow is, every trick has to be perfect, no b**ch hopping and you must land perfectly and smooth otherwise you havn't pulled it. I agree with the Chase Hawk and trails flow, omg it's sweet.

None of this mtb 360 but actually landing 340 and riding out, that is not pulled!

Talented: Yes.

All rounder? No.

Lance Armstrong's got way more all-round ability: murders most climbing specialists up climbs and murders most time trialists in time trials.

Oh, so does Alberto Contador for that matter...

But Lance also kills mountain bikers at their own discipline - like winning the Leadville 100 by a country mile.

If my memory serves me right, he was a pretty nifty Triathlete in his younger days. US National Champion.

And his trousers don't hang off his arse.

Now, that's an All-Rounder! 😀

Have to agree about Ruben Alcantara, just amazing! Seen him in a few competitions a few years back and he has such a smooth and unique take on things. Can be very tech yet as you see from his videos he can be hit some incredibly big and burly lines as well. My favourite rider by a long way!

Also Jamie Bestwick is stunning to watch, even though he is a vert specialist he can flow around a park as good as most. Watched him at Derby backyard jam and the height he got out of the big quarter made a dozen or so top riders look like kids! Insane!

But Lance also kills mountain bikers at their own discipline - like winning the Leadville 100 by a country mile.

Roadies and CX riders have always kicked MTBers asses in cross country racing because XC courses have always been utterly gay. The person with the strongest legs wins.

How can you say a Roady is an all rounder - Admittedly Lance is awesome - Natural talent riding a bike comes into it (along with spending a lot of time on a bike) but if you take this out Fitness and strength plus technical ability when riding are also very important. So I'd say most Dh'ers or BMX'ers beat roadie and XC types hands down as their technical ability surpasses the "racer types" and fitness and strength is equal if not greater

Dew Tour seems to be judged in that way though, seems like the biggest whip combos on the jump box get the points, its all about the airs and spins. Impressive but not my thing personally, always comment about how many riders enter the course with pegs on their bike and don't use them! One thing with Mark Webb I noticed was he did mix it up in this way (hitting the sub rails etc), also why most of my favourite riders to watch (on video) don't ride the big comps I think.

That decade 3 is sublime and some of the flip variations are just nuts. The guy has power with a capital P. It was a real shame most of his runs in the Dew tour were at the commercial break. He's one of the many guys pushing the sport, no doubt.

As for Bestwick, best vert rider ever (even the Condor would agree with that). Took him a while to break the US, mostly because Mirra was the king. With progressive sports like this, I find the best of today are always better than the best of yesterday. It's usually easier for them though, as the predecessors invented a lot of the tricks. Even back in Hoffman's prime, I prefered Jay Miron.

The judging thing is weird though. Dhers, who seems to win nearly every contest doesn't do it for me. Too precise, makes it look too easy. I'd take Wade over Dhers anyday - Stuntman Vs Robot? Stuntman WINS!

They're both amazing. I've seen Hoffman ride a few times, he's called the condor for a reason, he seems to get so much higher with so little effort, plus he knows how to put on a show, but... Bestwick is the best vert rider ever in my opinion. He and Mirra pushed the tricks to new heights of ridiculousness.
