Just rebuilding a non evo hub and freewheel.

One spring is broken it turns out. No probs though, have some spares from an Evo rebuild I did a few months back.

However... the new springs are half the width of the old ones in the non evo hub.

Guessing putting the narrower spring in won't trouble the freewheel.... Our kill me? Lol

As always, thanks for the help and info guys.

The narrower ones are a direct replacement, and seem to be more durable than the old ones. No worries

Thanks mate.

Odd the narrow ones last longer really.

Might have some more laying around and will try and change them all to narrow.

Thanks again!

I was wondering this too as just bought some from my lbs and they are narrower. No problems in use though...

Later spring steel are thinner. Had the same thoughts when I serviced a hub and was dealing with Hope on old spares at the time and told me they had made them more narrow and drop in without any dramas which it did.
