Is it just me or are replies disappearing off into the ether?

The new "ignore" feature is working then

😜

I suspect the delay between posting and the entry being visible has increased again, may be a database or cache configuration type issue.  You'll probably see the 'missing' entry in the overview.  1.5 developers plus a tinker etc

I must be missing something (and have asked a few times on this thread with no reply)..

Is there a way of being notified via an icon of updates to a thread without needing to either a)comment and subscribe or b) sign up for email updates?

Use to be able to do this under old forum and is handy when I have nothing helpful to contribute (often!) but just want to see when I log on if others have replied.

@mark

If you view an ad in the classifieds, the 'classifieds' link in the breadcrumb takes you to /adverts/ which is an odd 'tile view' of the ads and I don't think intentional.

Posting delay is back with a vengeance.  I posted on a thread yesterday and whilst the thread summary showed me as the last poster, the post itself didn't appear for about 15 minutes.  This is a real pain for me, as I often post in a hurry knowing it will be full of typos, then go back and edit them.  When your post doesn't even appear until after the edit window has closed, your illiterate ramblings are set in stone for eternity!

This is the only forum I am actually paying for and yet it is by far the worst performing.  Whilst not IT bod, I really can not understand why it continues to be so slow - doesn’t matter if I am on my MacBook or on my iPad?  No other forums seem to have this issue, despite in general having much more traffic.   I really hope it gets fixed soon.

The reason for the slowdown as I understand it  is that the forum integrates with a huge database of previous replies and the rest of the website and they have limited IT support

I’ll try and create a new account using a different email address to see if it’s any quicker as I more than often can’t be arsed to comment/reply due to the time it takes

Heres a fun one.... If i type somethingion*, and hit reply it replaces with somethingion**. If i pop back into edit it still says somethingion*

I thought i was losing my mind over the last few months with even worse typos than normal. but it turns out stw might have been gaslighting the shit out of me by replacing words i typed.

*S u m m a t i o n

**Somethingion

So there's something up? Must be the Yorkshire spell checker they have installed.

S u m m a t (without the spaces) gets replaced by something. How very proper, I wonder why someone went to the trouble of doing that?

I swear that the 'message' envelope re-appeared in the Classifieds at some point. Either was it's a bit of a mission to message someone in the classifieds now.

Also, is anyone reading this and fixing *anything*? On record here as someone who pays for the forum mostly and expects better.

Would getting rid of unnecessary stuff like member post count and online status help performance?

These icons have disappeared from the bottom of the page, can we have them back please?  They're very handy.

There also seems to be a new issue where both the latest post list and forum threads open at the post you'd expect and shortly afterwards scroll to the bottom of the page (Signed in on Firefox, Win11; Does *not* do it on Chrome not signed in).

Edit to add: Seems to be related to being signed in (perhaps just my account?) - logging out on Firefox stops it happening.

Can the swear filter be sorted please!?

When you can type...

bastard

but not type...

Derwen****er

...something is rather amiss!

Why? The word bastard  can legitimately be used without being an insult.

Why does every post with a link in it have a broken link to SingleTrack Wordl?

EDIT it’s not every link but it’s still annoying as the Wordl link just opens up and creates a load of blank space on the screen.

Forum has been logging me out regularly for at least the last ~4 days, I think each time I close Chrome, certainly each day I have to log back in if I want to post from my pc.

Not affecting my main mobile, also on Chrome.

How does one actually message a fellow forum user?

I'd naively assume that I'd go to their profile and there'd be a link or, failing that, go to messages and type their username. Unfortunately neither option appears to be possible, what witchcraft am I missing now?

Is it a paid feature?

The slow page loading seems to be back. Any page takes a good 25/30 seconds to load (Android, Chrome)

I'm on Android/Chrome too and it's no more than a couple of seconds to load pages. I'd say it's around 6-8 seconds to post a comment and have it shown. I mean, it's not super snappy but it's not really noticeable.
