Any recent-ish experiences flying with a bike to Geneva with Swiss Air?

Business class gets 32kg hold baggage vs 23kg in economy, which can be used for a bike box (same as BA). Actually it's 2x 32kg, but I won't be using all that. Spesh Stumpy Evo at c.16kg plus a decent bike bag will put me over the standard weight.

Outward flight looks like it will be actually be a BA plane, but the return will almost definitely be Swiss.

If they are a shower of pricks, then I'll stick with easyJet. Experiences welcome.

Ta.

Just check what sort of plane they are using. Flew with Swiss from Heathrow a few years ago and they had an Embraer which couldn’t take four bikes. Had to leave one at Heathrow which added stress to the trip. Business class was ok, but return leg food at the lounge was poor.

I flew Heathrow to Zurich and back last August with Swiss Air. Took a Stumpjumper in an Evoc bike bag, which ended up being 26kg (over the economy weight limit).

Checkin at Heathrow didn’t care about the weight, but had to pay for the heavy bike bag on the way back at Zurich (maybe 90CHF, can’t remember exactly).

Check the rules on whether you need to tell the airline in advance about taking a bike. I forgot on the way out but managed to plead ignorance at the airport and luckily it was ok.

You do have to inform them. We didn’t and had a right faff to get them booked on via the customer service desk at Heathrow.
