b) as a full member you can just paste images directly into the editor.
I can't (not from photos on my phone, anyway)
Lete have another go ...

Thanks for the reply.
But I was more asking why it has worked sometimes before and why it's on the list you posted up though?
As an example I posted a couple of pictures direct linked from Flickr around a week/two weeks ago.
They showed up here with a white border and the Flickr clicky logo.
Then they changed to stretched images the next morning, then by the afternoon they were showing properly again.
Then the next day they switched back to stretched images and have stayed that way since.
There are also a couple of flickr images from another member that showed up with the white background a clicky link that were still displaying correctly last time i looked a couple of days ago.
That to me says they can and have worked correctly on here.
BTW I don't want you to think I'm getting arsey about this as I'm not.
Just trying to understand why it has sometimes worked when you say it can't and wont.
I just still can't get over the general layout, low contrast colour choice, font selection, weird font sizes, bright colours in all the wrong areas and cluttered nature of the forum. It's just so annoying to interact with. How has this gone so wrong when any other forum I use all generally look the same (which is good) and are a pleasure to use.
I'm using Dark Mode but I like the colours and layout. I'm not seeing weird font sizes or clutter. I guess this is subjective though.
a) there are many, many other hosting sites such as imgur or imgbb or postimage which do exactly that,
And when I tried this to upload 7 images using IMgBB the other day, the first two showed the actual photos, the remaining 5 just had the links.
I'll try again ...

Can you post examples of what you mean?
It mostly looks OK to me (Using Firefox in Windows 10).
By "mostly", the only comments I'd make are that the font is larger than I prefer, but I just use the browser zoom out function to make it smaller, and the "Full/Free Member" icons stand out a bit too brightly. But it's nothing I'm overly concerned by.
What do you consider clutter? What low contract colour choices are you seeing? What fonts aren't you liking? Doesn't it look like this for you?
Like that ^^^^
I can't even seem to find a way on my Pixel8 to turn down the photo resolution so that photos come in under the 4.9MB (realise this is a me/my phone problem), so my only solution currently is to WhatsApp photos to myself (which reduces the size) save them again, and upload photos using the 'my media' button below the editor box.
It's on the list I posted as that is the list provided by the authors of the forum plugin code that we are using. We haven't written the code - we bought it. Flickr embeds do work. Just not very well and not reliably - for the reasons I've explained. Flickr uses a method that does not follow normal internet standards of operation for hotlinking images. If it works sometimes and not others then the Flickr code is behaving differently or not as expected. The users browser is ultimately running the code provided by Flickr.
There are other ways to host images on the internet that will provide you with an actual link to your images that will work just fine on this forum. As for Flickr we could spend time trying to find a way to make it work properly but then if Flickr decide to change things at their end, our fix will likely stop working. Because that's not in our control we have decided it's not a good use of our time trying make it happen.
I just still can't get over the general layout
What's wrong with it? "I can't get over it" isn't constructive. What's wrong with the general layout that you can't get over? Aside from forum post order which is being worked on the general layout hasn't changed in like 15 years as far as I can see.
low contrast colour choice
There are issues with white on white or grey on grey which has been flagged up multiple times previously, but it seems usable beyond that to me.
font selection, weird font sizes
The font looks like Ariel or similar and is the same size as most other websites. 🤷♂️

Again, this isn't helpful. What would be the right areas? Annoying how? Cluttered where? (It's about the least "cluttered" website I've ever seen.) If you're going to complain about your free forum then you need to be more specific, it's impossible to improve things based on user feedback if you're just sitting there shouting "it's all shit!" at clouds without any further qualification.
That's a link to Google Photos, not the photos stored in your phones memory.
Yes, I know. There's no way of me being able to copy/paste the actual image ...
Is jump to first unread supposed to work like a magic 8 ball? It's rather random; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and whether I've posted in the thread or not doesn't seem to effect the outcome.
Possibly related to the post appearance latency - certainly when waiting for my post to appear (to make the edit I noticed was needed a nanosecond after posting) when I clicked the 'last post' link it did not take me to the last post - visible or not.

You should have a "my media" link under the message box, that let's you choose pics on your phone to add.
- Click My Media
- Click Add Files
- Select the files to Add - they take a few moments to upload
- Once uploaded select them and then click "Insert into post".

Do you not have a right mouse button?
Again thanks for trying to answer my questions.
Though if I'd paid for something that didn't do as it says it should I'd be asking the seller to fix it.
Open your Pixel camera app.
Go to Settings.
Open the Pro tab
Change Resolution to 12MP
Now try taking a photo and add it to a post using the My Media instructions above

Cheers. No Pro tab on mine. This is what it looks like when I open setting on the camera App. Can't find it in advanced settings etc ... It's a real headscratcher.

This forum I use below is quite a bog standard layout and is much cleaner with the same functionality as here.

That is quite smart, not sure of the colours but it is smart.
I like posting pictures in the “today’s photo” thread. This I used to be able to do quite easily, one click (virtual as on iPad) opened my library, selected pictures, up to 3 was ok with the 10Mb limit, “clicked” ok, pictures appeared in the reply box, “click” submit. Done. Now it tells me that even one photo is over the limit, even though I check that it’s well below. All this pain over the last few weeks and fundraising before that was supposed to be improving things, from my point of view it’s worse and some of the sarcastic, and rude, comments are not helpful.
I assume you are directing that at me. I'm sorry if I've been rude and not helpful. That's certainly not my intent.
where are the new posts? According to this @mark posted 5 mins ago.....I can't see it 🤔
No, not you Mark, I know you’ve been working very hard and I’ve been patient. I’ve not been posting very much, waiting until things settle down as there was a topic that I wanted to start in February but I’m waiting. The picture thing is very frustrating though - I’m running iPhone and iPad with latest ios. However, it can wait, go home and get your tea!
and my post I posted I can see to edit to add this...................
I view in dark mode, can someone tell me if the blue on black is staying or is it to change as its really not great for viewing. White on dark is fine
This new forum still has a few gremlins and I'm not talking about the members, it seems to take its sweet time to load up when using on my phone and often stalls / doesn't respond to any taps or swipes, I have to go back and start again, sometimes I can see my reply straight away, other times it's takes hours, every other site seems lightening fast compared to this
Image upload size has been increased to 12mb now.
Judging by the current lack of (ab)use, I guess folk haven't discovered the Giphy button yet

Brilliant.
That's now going to allow me to post direct from my phone.
Even in it's lowest camera setting most of the pics were over 5mb.
yeah thats better 👍
Loving the new post count logo and I think possibly the writing style has changed slightly which I also approve of.

Oooh that’s a nicer contrast and colour choice.

We've increased the contrast on the forum index pages for both dark and light modes.
Thanks, it does seem better.
Can it be made to go faster now please?

It's all or nothing. It either goes to the last read post or it goes to the first post.
What part is being slow for you?
It's pretty rapid here now. About the slowest function is posting and that's in the order of a few seconds. A page load/refresh is near instant.
That ^^ took eight seconds to post and appeared immediately.
