Yeah for me its not been slow since yesterday.
Getting quite tedious now, reply to a post, see several other people have replied since, can't see any of the replies
That seems very random as I had that for a couple of days but not tonight.
Posting for me takes a few second tonight, during the day probably nearer 8.
I'm sure your all in the latest devices and fastest connections however have you considered that it might not be the site that's slow.... I've not seen any behaviour every could be described as slow for a while now though admittedly the 2 devices I use are quite nippy and or connection very fast.
Actually I'll take that back 😭. Cache bug is still here.
Yesterday I couldnt post any responses to the forum using my iPhone.
Today I am using a PC and wrote a response only for the forum to freeze and was unable to post. I managed to copy the response, close the forum, reopen it and paste the response and it worked.
We've increased the contrast on the forum index pages for both dark and light modes.
I'm now having an issue with one of the drop-down menus.
Post to test any delay / timing. At 10:09
edit. Appeared immediately
Not sure if this has been done, but I'm starting to see a strange icon at the bottom left of the posting box that appears to offer the option of posting in all manner of animated gifs. Is it meant to be there as chaos may ensue?

Some great bicycle ones by the way.

As a follow up to the latest thread in reverse replies order thingy... I found this amusing on the overview page:
![]()
Urm? 😀
no it didnt for those of you that can see my last message, im still seeing the last post as being scotroutes at 4.09
Can you give the server a boot - F1 thread not updating.
😒 It's really not good that this needs to be done.
Hey Mark, can your one and a half devs fix absolutely everything simultaneously?
Posting feels considerably faster today.
[EDIT: editing posts is considerably faster, replying still takes several seconds]
[EDIT 2: it seems to vary. Hmm.]
The delay post bug is weird. This thread was fine until late morning then started not displaying. Other threads were fine, I wonder if it has something to do some members. If their getting a slow post would that delay it for others to see and subsequent posts?
Oh, I see. It's all my fault again. 😁
I need to do more testing/post (and less actual work...) but I think posts I make that include a hyperlink or something more than just plain text are delayed in appearing, with simple text replies appearing straight away. Could be pure coincidence but thought it worth mentioning.
Edit: this post took about 10secs to appear, all good.
Hey Mark, can your one and a half devs fix absolutely everything simultaneously?
From the outside it looks like some things* are temporarily put right but never fixed.
I thought this was a Wordpress extension or some bolt-on - not something that Mark and the devs have written themselves** - it shouldn't need fixing.
* Things that are more important than pretty circles and colours.... the sort of things that may make people think twice about bothering to visit.
** If they had maybe they'd know how to fix it for good.
Edit: this post took about 10secs to appear, all good.
As did mine.... but post a thread on the chat forum and it doesn't appear for ages. 🤷♂️
I love the content of the forum but I stopped using it much years ago as it was so buggy, slow and user unfriendly.
But now since this new skin, it's far worse which I didn't think possible.
It took me 3 days to finally post this, this is not an exaggeration.
I suspect I can't be the only one but obviously owners don't know how many people simply don't visit because by and large it's not working and it is archaic when it does.
I have zero problems on any other forums.
A real shame basically.
It took me 3 days to finally post this, this is not an exaggeration.
Why? What was preventing you?
It took me 3 days to finally post this, this is not an exaggeration.
Seems to be a lack of detail more than an exaggeration. How come it has took you days when others are posting multiple times a day.
Seems to be a lack of detail more than an exaggeration.
As regular readers will know, I worked in support for many years. Problem reports like "it doesn't work" aren't helpful, they're annoying. It's nothing more than complaining and it is impossible to address issues when they are hopelessly vaguely defined. On the phone you learn how to tease information out of people, but with the one-way nature of a forum that becomes considerably more challenging.
"It took me 3 days to finally post this" because... what? It took three days because the site kept crashing? Because I kept getting an error message (pro tip: post the bloody error message then)? Because it took that long for the page to refresh? Because I only tried once, three days ago? Because my keyboard is broken? Because my arms fell off? Because there was a powercut? Something else?
Desktop browser (which?), phone browser (which?), Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, iPhone, Etch-a-Sketch...??
Throw them a bone here.
He's entitled to his opinion without receiving an overly sarcastic response. It's not really up to the average user who just wants to easily browse a bike forum to have to spend time troubleshooting a mess.
Without details and context they IT bods can’t know where to look.
He's entitled to his opinion without receiving an overly sarcastic response.
He's entitled to his opinion, sure. He's not entitled to express that opinion without someone else being able to express theirs in return. This is the right-wing "you can't say anything these days" Freedom of Speech gambit. Newsflash: the same freedoms apply to everyone else. Sorry.
It's not really up to the average user who just wants to easily browse a bike forum to have to spend time troubleshooting a mess.
So why bother to post at all, then?
I'm not asking them to troubleshoot anything, I'm asking them to define the issue that they're seeing so that the people who are doing the troubleshooting can replicate the issue and then work towards resolving it.
You wouldn't take your car to a garage and go "it's broken," would you? You'd give them a description of symptoms rather than saying "I'm not a mechanic, that's your job."
It doesn't seem to be running the post counts correctly on a thread, nor showing the correct time etc information for the last post
ETA- it does work correctly if I am logged it; if I have been logged out then it doesn't

Nice work getting rid of that weird blue post title colour in dark mode. Looks a lot better now

Can we please get up of those internet wasting little video things that are only amusing to the poster?!!
This site is utter bobbins now 🤡
https://singletrackworld.com/forum/off-topic/ isn't updating to show current posts, even logged-in.
You have a quick look and apparently nothing has changed since you last looked, which isn't the case at all
EDIT: and a quick look following this post and the same applies to https://singletrackworld.com/forum/bike-forum/ over an hour for the most recent post
https://singletrackworld.com/forum/recent seems to be working though
STILL not updating certain posts, is there any news on fixing this? the forum is unusable if it wont update
So the post updating cache bug. Appears to be linked to being logged in. If I post then the post does not appear in the thread for me. However if I then open the forum in another browser or incognito window it does show. If I then log in (in the new browser/window) the post is no longer visible.
Edit: Seems thread dependant as well my recent waxing thread post did not appear but this one did straight away.
The thread update thing is becoming tedious now.
In this Full Member account I can see people have posted but their posts aren't visible.
View when logged out and they still aren't visible.
Log-in with a free account and they are visible. 🤷♂️
Yeah. It's a bit random. The F1 2025 thread says it has at least 2 updates in the last 15 minutes, but the last post actually displayed is from 9.36am
