Fairly chilled ride last night although arriving on the summit of our local hill with a puncture was unexpected - must've been a sharp rock on the climb up. Lovely conditions yet again despite rain earlier in the day.
Got to the lift station at Val Di Sole this morning only to be told the park was closed and the lifts weren't running.
Decided to do a big route of their app and add in any cheeky stuff we could find on the way round.
Climb was hard in the heat but once at the top found enough stuff to have fun on the way down.
That’s a shame Tracey - it's why we went to Paganella. Tonale isn't open either until 28th apparently.
We had a ball at Canazei today, even though a lot of tracks are shut for forestry and the weekends race. Reeksy1 had a hugey overshooting a table top at the very start of the day. But it was smooth otherwise. At one point we were trying to figure out directions and I turned to ask a rider who arrived next to us and it was Morgan Charre - who was lovely and hoping to try practice tomorrow.
Glad you're having a good time. Last time we were in Canazei Abigale was racing.
Need to get back to ride again but it won't be this year as we will have used our 90 in 180 days
Looks like we are going to have to earn the DHs this week
You probably know it already but Paganella is really good and most of the lifts and trails were open last week.
Though you must have been to work between the previous weekend and your ride, or be going to work between your ride and the coming weekend
That means I can never post on this thread then 🤔🤣
Still feeling like shit from the bad cat aids but got dragged out by Mrsstu who wanted to try out a potential new bike.
That means I can never post on this thread then 🤔🤣
We need a separate thread for weekday holiday rides, another for retirees and those that don't work.
Chores, hobbies such as needle work, stamp collecting, or Eddie Stobert spotting, even shuffling round Tesco’s holding up the rest of us can count as work for those of us lucky enough to not have to keep feeding the machine.
Led a group ride over the Purbecks last night, one rider very kindly offered to hold the gate open half way down, 2nd rider came in a little hot.
A lovely ride across the Long Mynd yesterday, lots of very fast, laugh out loud moments, 5000 feet of descending and a coffee at the glider station! 🙂
With temperatures of 30+ and storms later it was a quick bacon and egg buttie before the 10 mile climb up to the start of the trails. Changed our minds at the top and decided to come down on the black gravity trails. Well worth the climb for the descents. 24 miles with 1600m of descent
Hoolie blowing across the Mersey and the coast to Southport today. Two hands kept a firm grip of the bars at all times.
Bit of Razzle Dazzle and Three Queens
Circular route today from West Burton: over to Coverdale; then through Arkleside onto the bridleway to Scar House reservoir; cheeky route over Little Whernside; bridleway to Top Mere, down to Kettlewell; along the road to Starbotton; then Walden Road back to West Burton. Challenging at times in the face of a blustery wind and significant rain, but good fun.
Coverdale on the left, Scar House reservoir on the right:
Wharfedale from Top Mere:

Managed my first proper ride this morning for two weeks due to illness.
Still taking it very steady and keeping my heart rate in zone 3 on the climbs so as to not over do it.
Managed 800 meters without coughing a lung up which is a massive improvement and it feels so good to be back out riding.
Still a very disappointing monthly 10500 Meters but better than nowt so can't complain.
Forgot to take any pics so here's one of the ride instead.
We set off for a gentle pootle after yesterday's epic.
25 miles and just over 1000 m of climbing later in this heat didn't seem like a pootle at the end.
Shuttle booked for tomorrow 🤞
Morgins today. First time riding here in about 15 years.

Got a shuttle uplift today but still had 30 miles 1000m of climbing and 2600m of descent ahead of us with temperatures hitting 38°
Trails varied witn a mixture of roots and rocks. Some exposure in places and again very dusty.
Great day out up in the hills above Limone
Still not much rain in the forecast...

Job in Bridlington, so stopped in the Peak on the drive up, Cut gate, up to Derwent Edge along to The Coach & Horses, then down to the reservoir for a burger and ice cream, before back to Langsett.
Thoroughly enjoying the riding this week. I've only got my dropbar MTB (don't think I can call it gravel now that it's got 29x2.2 tyres?) and it's well-suited. Shortish loop early this morning taking in Porthleven, Loe Bar and Gunwalloe:

Another big day in the hills above Lake Garda with some big climbs to get us 2700m of sweet singletrack descents.
Kevin had his first crash since been back out on the bike after the accident. Think it shook him a bit as he took the rest of the ride at a slower pace.
Some great pictures recently 👌 everything looks awesome this time of year.
Aren’t bikes amazing, while travelling with work, instead of just sitting in my hotel room drinking beer, I can ride around drinking beer.
The standard of photos is top class in here at the moment 😎 👍
@ally agreed 👍 the one you posted plus @temudgin wheat field one, @tracey curved road are all particularly ace (amongst other excellent.ones too)
Sorry for not liking everything and/or posing my own photos I've been a bit too busy with general life stuff outside mtb
Almost at the top of Kincraig Hill, with a view down to Earlsferry beach, part of the Fife Coastal Path. Got slightly caught out by a thunderstorm on the way back to Lower Largo
Day 1 of a Wolf Way ride from home. Pick up at end of day and deliver back the following day by "willing" family helpers! Just pics as no one needs to see my bimbling through off-road sections on video.
Yesterday Ipswich to Risby
@Tracey: I follow your posts since the days when I bought a Giant Reign frame from you. I noticed that Kevin had come back from a major off previously. I hope he’s ok and it hasn’t shaken him up too much. Personally, I’ve found myself getting more and more cautious, which sometimes frustrates me a lot. However, im riding alone in the Alps, often far from anyone else, so I think it’s best to be careful.
The places you two ride seem have some quite outstanding trails. How do you find them? Word of mouth? Google maps? Trailforks?
Giant frame was a long time ago
Kevin's major off wasn't riding the bike but he ended up been catapulted of the side of the mountain. Consultant wasn't sure he could ride off road again but with the help of his Physio and goals set he was back out 12 months later. However he has little strength in his right arm and not alot of feeling. Consultant said if he wanted to ride his bike he needed to ride now before further deteriation sets in so we made the decision to retire early and make each ride count.
He had got most of his confidence back till a crash last week above Torbole. Shook him a bit but he's been chasing me down the trails today
First point of call is Trailforks then Komoot and then local maps. We have quite a few contacts and friends from Abigales EWS days so can sometimes gleam some info from them.
What ever area we are in we try and source trail info from local riders So far we have been lucky and riden some awesome trails in some amazing places
Rode up into the hills above Colazza to ride the Wolf trails. Think the storms we have been having overnight might have had an effect on them as they weren't in the best condition but still fun
The ride back down to Invorio was different as the trails went from overgrown/non existent to complete wash out in places. All part of exploring.
Another great day out in the saddle
Rode out from the van today with a big loop up to Monte Falò Tre Montagnette.
30 miles and 1600m of climbing and the same descending in 34°
We had technical rocky climbs mixed in with sweet singltrack descents and amazing views from the top
Probably the best ride we have had this week up in the hills above Lake Maggiore
WFH lunch hour ride today, absolutely boiling!
Stayed late at the pub last nights club ride and had to ride home in the dark, used my Fenix 7x strapped to the bars, probably had a similar amount of Lumens to the Cateye lights we used 30 years ago.
Did a route on Wednesday from Crosby Ravensworth over to Swindale (hard work through wet ground, bracken and brambles), over to Haweswater via the Corpse Road, then back over Gatesgarth pass to Crosby Ravensworth via Wet Sleddale (tough but not as bad as it might have been).
Flowerdale Forest. Ben Alligin and Liathach in the distance
Is that Poca Buidhe? A sort of dead end ride in from the Gruinard road?
Piss wet local community TT from Crieff this evening, not sure if riding winter bike with mudguards offset thd marginal gains from shaving my legs 😆
Yesterday's MTB commute - started grey & mizzly, then the sun broke out
Took the SS gravel bike with full mudguards into work today in anticipation of downpours, but dodged the rain on both journeys
First day of riding in La Clusaz and unfortunately we are on the last leg of this tour
We have visited and rode in some amazing places. Most of them new to us and have done loads of exploring.
Today we did one lap of the bike park. It could well have been in any mountain resort. A case of berm, table top, stutter bumps and repeat all the way down the mountain side.
Not our cup of tea so went off and explored. Found stuff not on the maps and away from the lifts that felt alot more natural
Back home in belfast after 2 weeks in the Portes du Soleil. Trying not to wish I was back there!
I can’t believe how the undergrowth has exploded (even more than before) in the 2 weeks I’ve been gone!
A decent all-day forecast today so it was off to do a road loop I've contemplated but never got around to. Garve - Corrieshalloch - Gairloch - Achnasheen - Garve. 172 km and I recorded 1,800m of climbing. Scottish Highlands were looking magnificent, there was a sea haar on the West Coast and, despite being on the NC500 for much of the day, few wallies.
Isle of Ewe
Isle of Ewe too
I took many more (too many. I'd have got round much quicker without my phone 🤣)
Second day out up above La Clusaz.
Used the lifts to get up high and then set of exploring. Did a big loop up one side of the valley and back down the other side to finish off the day
Mmmmm.
It appears I can't post pictures any more.
Using the usual method but just shows an alternative ? and ! in a wheel on the left and doesn't give me an option to insert into post.
With storms forcast for tomorrow we decided to make today our last ride in La Clusaz and also our tour so decided to make it an epic
Started with a lap of the bike park and then went up the valley. Just over 30 miles and over 3000m of descent. Bit of everything from sweet singletrack, roots in abundance, rocks galore technical climbs and a few uphill pushes.
Bikes have been washed and fettled. A few things to sort out on both of them when we get home
Visited 6 locations, over 500 miles of singletrack and 35000m of descent over the trip
Not had a bad ride.
Add images not working for me as well
Back home in Belfast. Trying to keep my chin up. Managed to fall of twice in two rides. Not a great homecoming! Chased the rain today, thankfully without falling off!
Mmmmm.

Same here.
OK - linking files in postimage still works.
Went up on the downs on Thursday w EpicJnrJnr to commence SDW training (he has to do it w me before uni as a right of passage). Glorious weather n of the downs, south of the downs a thick sea fret, so we bailed on the Stanmer loop, continued on the ridge until we were enveloped by cloud and the dropped down and went to the bull in Ditchling for a pint in the sun. Fabulous. It was also a NBD for him with a bike finally that fits......
And if image insert was working.....
