Nearly at Calais now, normal service resumes this weekend.

An excellent 10 days though.

Crazy day - travelling back from family holiday in Montenegro this morning, ate a curry, quick sort out of stuff, then out on the bike with @hardtailonly of this parish

Lovely evening!

Down the jumps tonight - good times.

First go on one of the new jumps which I cased massively. A sign it was time to quit whilst ahead so I had a nice xc trundle home

Further to last week's attempt (cut short by IT band trouble), I finally made it up to the summit of Braeriach, via Carn na Criche from Insh.

It was absolutely pissing down last night but we'd arranged it so we stuck to it. A few laps of Lady Cannings after work then home through the parks.

Making up for the weather tomorrow at Hamsterley.

Nice evening ride ruined by bad drivers. Actually thinking of sacking off the road bike as driving has got noticeably worse since I was last on the road a few years ago. So many close passes and dangerous overtakes round corners etc. Doesn't feel safe any more.

Another rare chance to make the Wednesday night cub ride. Was running late thanks to thorn/tyre issues so photo opp was a bit rushed. Good ride though.

So some how in in the Lake District with my gravel bike. I think it’s because in my head this was going to be a road ride…..

Mrs Ampthill has just returned from a few days touring on a rented ebike and said she’d like a ride in the lakes this holiday. I rented from Grizedale as they had an XS. Ampthill junior joined us so i rented an e-bikes for him too

The forecast wasn’t great so we stayed in the woods so we could bail if the rain got really bad. Then we realised my son and i could ride bits of the North Face trail, which i found scary on a gravel bike

Three days pedalling round Suffolk with my two sons, 120 miles in total, two nights of camping, one barrel roll into brambles (younger son), usual Dunwich stop for fish and chips and one lovely and well hidden cafe in Beccles recommended by a fellow cyclist while we were dodging the rain in the middle of the town.

A couple of local rides in the woods this week. Nothing very exciting, had to fit them in around work and life and shortening days...but still good to get out. Forecast rain hasn't happened and the trails are running great

We're currently in NW Scotland and I had the opportunity for some time for a ride today. I had wanted to do the Torridon Lollipop again, but with the heavy rain yesterday and overnight, plus the blustery wind, I opted for a lower level alternative and did the out and back route from Kenmore to Applecross. The route out was mostly ok and not disastrously wet. Whilst having a haggis and cheese toasted sandwich in The Applecross Inn there was a sharp shower and quite a few sections on the return leg had running water where before they'd been ok.

Took the Langster on a gravel ride to try and get a taste of what it might be like. In hindsight a terrible idea on 28c Roubaix tyres, my arms feel like I've had a day at Whistler even on our relatively smooth bridleways and gravel paths. If actual gravel bikes are even remotely like this then I'm very glad I didn't get one instead of my 29er hardtail! Forgot how much I enjoy singlespeed simplicity though, makes me want to SS the MTB.

I managed a short out and back early morning ride to the bothy on Mull whilst on hols. Felt for all the cyclists in pouring rain and winds I saw through the last week on the west coast.

Bro came over. He's not much of a MTBer nowadays, so we did a gravel/rode/bit of dirt ride.  I was tired after a big day on the MTB yesterday and was coveting his 700cc wheels and road based tyres!

You know you're unlucky when you pinch flat 30psi.

Still it was a nice walk out behind a brush turkey.

Sacked off work this afternoon, cos I can

Took the ebike out for 5 hours including pub stops. Lovely 25 mile loop

Will possibly do the same tomorrow, but with the hardtail

The mighty RipMo had some fettling before heading off to Molini a week on Saturday. Slurpy X2 serviced (I'm still taking a spare shock tho as I have not had good experiences with X2s!), new XT drivetrain, bled brakes, new pads, replaced rocker bearings and strapped on some Conti tyres more appropriate for a weeks uplifted riding.

Rode on our local trails, and, while my Giga might be the 'better' bike at times on Molini trails, the other 90% of the time I'd rather ride this.

Wednesday was my final midweek club ride until Christmas as we go back to school Monday. Was a good turnout and fun was had round the local (even extending to the cheesy editing of the vid).

Ditched work again, but couldn't be arsed with the HT, so ebike again. Lovely afternoon for it, had two pub stops and ended up at the local with Mrs STR and mates, smoking in a beer garden

So 10 days ago i drive down langdale to pick up a mate in Ambleside. The plan being a gravel ride round Blencathra. But as Langdale was largely under water i rapidly hatched a new plan

we’d drive to Keswick and ride Newlands and Honnister Passes. With a touch of off road on the far side of Buttermere and the side of Catbells. A great day but on the limit on the climbs

First opportunity pedal in 6 weeks (thanks school holidays)

Took the gravel bike out and decided to ease myself back in gently as the school break this year has made me lazy and sluggish (must be an age thing….)
