[Closed] The longest build in (my) history - Cielo finally!

I ordered a Cielo in late 2014, and finally arrived 2 days before the birth of our first child in March. Little did I know the impact that little George would have on our lives......

Anyway, now that he is 6 months old I have finally built it up. Very old school geometry - long and low. More spacers than I would care for, but for a large frame, a 10.8cm head tube is quite short, and once I have ridden it in anger tomorrow, some will go.

Beautifully built and finished. Definitely has that steel feel about it based on a quick bedding-in ride, but with a modern twist (44mm head tube, 142 thru-axle, 29er etc), and hint of the sensible (73mm threaded bb, 27.2 seatpost).

The build is robust, but light (XTR, Chris King headset, hubs and bb, ENVE rims, Thomson bar, stem and seatpost). And yes, for those people who contributed to the ENVE wheel thread, I have de-stickered the ENVE rims. The white decals just felt too shouty on this build. The XTR is not as bad in the flesh as it looks in pictures, but the chainset is a bit of a step back I think.

Now for the mud tomorrow......

Looks nice, but my first thought was "LB rims on a Cielo?"

Nice to see the rims debadged. Enve logos are an eyesore on most bikes, let alone something that nice.

Where did you get the o-rings on the brake hose? They look a much better fix than the stick on patches I use.

Great build, you've got great taste and can afford to pull it off! (although saying that, I wouldn't have gone for the red!)

Find that a bit dull myself, solid spec though.

Are you running an external lower headset cup so you can run a tapered fork, or is it designed like that?

Bikes don't always have to have shouty x100 MASSIVE TREK stickers on it.

Nice. Is it a bit small for you going by the seat post. I'll look after it for you.

Thanks all.

It's a metallic orange rather than red. Looks lovely in the daylight.

The cable rubbers are Jagwire. You can get them in 2 sizes meant for inner cables (brake and derailleur), but they fit over outers nicely. I do it more to stop the noise of cables slapping against the frame as I also use helitape to stop rub. You buy them in little tubs of 500 pieces quite cheaply (particularly when some shops charge so much for 10). They are a workshop product, but readily available to the public. Easy to fit when you shorten the brake hoses.

Bring on the mud!

That's lovely, nice build, just curious though, Enve wheels, but didn't go Enve bars, stem and post, not knocking Thomson kit, just bought some myself for my new Pace build.

Can't go wrong with Thomson. Strong, light and cheap (in your face Keith Bontrager!).
