ignore that, he's virtually ahead of Nibbles, and has gained 31 (out of 53 needed) vs Quintana

I'd guess he'd ride his own race rather than mess about with pacing to worry rivals. Time at second checkpoint seems to suggest a fairly even effort.

Shame it's looking like Pinot will be the one to miss out on the podium.

I had 39s in my head but that's Quintana's lead over Nibali

Nibali was only 14s ahead of Tom

It's a superb way to finish from our point of view. They might not agree...

I do love a ITT as the final stage of a grand tour. It's not just good for the last day but makes the lead up days in the mountains more meaningful. Can the climber put enough into the tester to be safe, can the allrounder not loose too much in either. Just great at putting riders of different shapes and styles head to head.

Can't see Quintana making up the time in the 3rd split. Needs to be 1.08 or more back on Van Emden for Dumoulin to win I think.

Dumoulin was shitting himself till he saw 60 seconds at the 1k mark.

Superb stuff. Well deserved. My nerves are shot! 🙂

Must admit, I didn't really fancy the idea of a last day TT but it turned out to be great viewing. I guess there'd always be riders ragging it for places, even if the leader was out of range all along

Hmmm.

I wonder just how much Dutch Beer will be drunk tonight.

Gotta love Tem Dams attitude, another super cool Dutchman.

Well deserved winner - so glad Quintana or Nibali didn`t get it.

Was surprised to hear he has signed up till 2021 with Team Sunweb - I thought he would have made a superb addition for Team Sky; a super domestique for Froomey ... and a natural successor too.
