Aliens (amazing) currently on Channel 4, Alien was excellent as well. The other 2, ropey to say the least. How will the new prequel, Prometheus(?) due out next year, fair? I hoping it's along the lines of the Batman reboots in terms of generating interest in the series again.

I thought 3 had it's moments but was let down by a poor ending.

TBH I'm not holding out alot of hope for the prequel.

Prequel has a good cast - Michael Fassbender is one of the best actors around IMO - Ridley Scott back in the driving seat and heaps of modern technology. I am hopeful.

The gf had never seen any of them I discovered recently so we are working our way through the quadrology. She loved Aliens which we watched last night. I have only seen the third once, many years ago, so am interested to see it and I don't mind the 4th apart from the ending.

They apparently had to reshoot it at the last minute becaue it was too close to the ending of Terminator 2 which came out at the same time.

I love them all, for totally different reasons.

1: No explanation needed. one of the best films ever.

2: Good to watch, in the same way most steve segal films are good to watch. not that good, but entertaining.

3: any film with pete postlethwaite in it gets my vote, and i quite liked the twistyness

4: i like to look at winona ryder

looking forward to the prequel. Not sure how it will go though.
its about the navigator isnt it? in which case ripley cant be involved, and she is more important to the feel of them than the alien itself (imo)

I quite liked 3. 4 is the only one I didn't like, although it has some parts that would be alright in another film.

Is Prometheus going to have much to do with it at all? I thought he'd said it will be 'in the same universe' but not necessarily directly related.

....the following scene rates as one of best...I'm always using it in home/shed protection threads...

Just imagine the Burberry threads hanging in the air after another thwarted attempt on your shed lock ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

As said above, they are all prett good, first two were excellent. 3, whilst panned, did have an atmosphere of really being at the arse end of space and complete hopelessness. Its a shame Vincent Ward didn't get his way and shoot the film about the monks, what a film that would have been.

Prometheus should be excellent. If the plot synopsis that was leaked is what the film is, I can't wait!!

The "tracker" in number 2 is one of the best suspense generators in any movie.
