I'm in the market for a new frame and I've stumbled across the idea of a Yeti ASR5.
Currently I ride a Commencal Meta 5.5 with 140mm coil Pikes. I like climbing and descending but enjoy the downy bits more. I love the way the commencal is great for riding everything and popping off roots etc. I live in Sheffield and ride mostly in the Dark Peak.
I just wondered if there was anyone that has ridden both a Commencal Meta 5.5 and a Yeti ASR5 that could comment on how the bikes compare?
Or just any thoughts from the learned people of STW.

And I've come across more.
I think I read somewhere that the Bike Tree in Sheffield might have a demo bike.
Do it!
Great bike. Started running with 150mmm front fork then took it down to 120mm. Works fine in both modes depending on what you are riding. Back end travel does feel unending but not in that vpp magic carpet way. Manuals really easily and really encourages you to launch off everything.
Recommended.

I've never ridden a Comical, but my Yeti 5 is tremendous.
Get one.
Pop into the bike tree in sheffield, they have a demo asr5 in medium.
Yeah I've been into the Bike Tree - I swung a leg over their demo ASR5 but plan to see if I can take it for a ride in the next week or so. Reading online, I can't find a bad word said about them - I just can't work out if it might be a bit skittish for my tastes.
I guess I'd see by taking a test ride but that's £35 IIRC and if it's the wrong bike it's not worth trying.
Surely if you pay £35 and find out that it's the wrong bike for you then it IS worth paying. Or is it just me?
Yeah but if I pay £35 to test all the 5" trail bikes out there, I'll have no money left. There has to be some whittling down before testing everything...
I run my slightly softer than recommended running around 35%-40% sag at the rear and have 140mm Talas forks upfront so isn't skittish for me. Run it with bolt threw front and rear as well for even more stiffness.
