Thought that greasy mud at the bottom of the dip might be a bit tricky, it was, I bounced of the left hand bank and over the right edge. I sailed ovet the bars and landed at the bottom of the gulley (sort of at the base of the tree).
Wasn't too bad as my face slowed me down, no injuries worthy of the previous crashing thread tho. ๐ I did slow down a bit afterwards thinking of what might have been as I was on my own.
Apologies to the lads who came flying over the crest of the hill as I was trying to get back on my bike and nearly suffered the same fate. ๐ณ
Yes it is a bit slithery in places isnt it ๐
I have a horrible feeling its going to need a lot of remedial work if we get a wet winter its already chewing up quite badly in places.
I was there last week, Wednesday I think, when it spent a lot of the day pissing down. All the new work is really nice at the moment, but like pantsonfire says, I can see problems cropping up in places- if it gets fairly busy some (most) of the unsurfaced stuff is going to cut up really badly.
I had a moment at the very same spot last week!
Im blaming rider error though, i got a bit giddy after those berms down from the Slab, they are sooo grippy.
I was there yesterday for the first time in the afternoon, having previously read on here about those sections in the wet I took it fairly easy down them as I was on my own also.
I think it is going to get cut up horribly, some sections I rode through after the rollercoaster bit we 2-3inches deep of mud, had to get off and walk parts of it: Conti Verticals are shockingly bad in mud.
First time there on Saturday, brilliant fun, never seen berms like that before!!! Can't wait to go back ๐
Almost lost it on sunday in exactly the same place-there were centimetres in it. Almost wet myself ๐
Yep, very very dicey in the wet. I dont think it will be long before someone has a serious accident there, unless something is done about the surface.
They are aware, not sure what plans there are to sort it though. I know Martin (the head FC guy) has ridden it himself in the wet and so knows first hand what it's like. The bermy section after the rooty valley is also pretty lethal, they've resurfaced the first up into the woods there but the second berm is lethal.
For info the rollercoaster section has been officially named 'Hully Gully', don't ask.
