I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Froome house tonight after Bradley coming out today announcing he intends to defend the Tour

I think history shows that once a man gets a taste for winning the tour, he wants as much as he can get.

I always felt that Mr Wiggins would be tempted to take a shot at another Mallot Jaune.

Time will tell and I for one will be looking forward to the 2013 grand tour season.

It's one thing to finish a good second, another to win. Look at Froome in the Vuelta for instance, I wonder if he has it mentally to win.

It's 8 months away. Plenty of time for either to have a good year/bad year/crash.

On the one hand it'd be a shame for Wiggins not to be allowed to defend it, on the other how ace would it be for a British team to not only win it, but win with two different riders in two years.

Look at Froome in the Vuelta
He rode that race clean, he did a great job.

No need for him to feel cheated yet, once certain Spanish drugs cheats have beaten him and Wiggo that we be the time to feel cheated. I watched the Vuelta, same old rules.

He looked tired from dragging a TT up the big hills in the TdF didnt he ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wonder what he would do with actual preparation for an event

I think a hilly route favours Froome tbh

Agree re cheats thing and Berties had another fine ride after a recovery day - he is the current LA of cycling

Is it universally accepted then that Bertie is currently cheating?

And therefore that current testing doesn't work at all?

If so, what do we have to say anyone is clean?

The time gap between 3rd and 4th at the Vuelta shows what the current crop of undetectable drugs do. 2012 Vuelta up with 1996 TdF as dirtiest race ever IMO.

Unless he's caught Bertie will crap over everyone next year - or unless his knee blows up again, with a bit of luck.

+1 cynic-al

If lazy has a decent idea then Id love to know which drug might be out there which the labs currently cant detect

Purely from an interested bystander point of view LOL

Seriously though if he is cheating what is he allegedly using?

Valverde(s) is a doper no question and does not give a s..t that was caught banned.

If Contador is really the victim of a misteak (see that). Then the beef in Spain is contaminated and there has been further positives for other athletes/sports.

Spanish cycling has not arrived at the concept of ensuring its rider must be drug free. It will be tough for them to do that as it will mean recognising that the previous winners from Spain were dopers. Indurain 5 clean wins my arse.

Or is the problem a lack out of out of competition testing

One of the few remaining weaknesses in the sytems is that some nations don't seem to want to really check their own athletes..

Whats the evidence on Indurain doping

we can't just say all non Brit winners must be cheats

No.

NO what there is is the certainty that he did cheat, that he denied it with the most ludicrous of excuses - he could not even produce a receipt for the butcher nor the name as he knew this defence could e tested and he spoke out in defence of LA

As some folk refused to beleive he cheated when he tested positive it is hardly surprising they think he doe snto cheat now.

Me i dont know but i dont trust him

we can't just say all non Brit winners must be cheats

NO not this straw man again

FWIW I suspect only a handful of riders have ever won it clean anyway Evans,Le Mond , Wiggo
Indurain tested positive and i would be surprised if he was clean though he was a physiological freak

Gutted about Bertie he dances on those pedal in some fine style but he will be this generations LA and the spanish federation [ they knew they had no grounds not to ban him and even the PM got involved in saying he was clean] dont seem to care

Re His steak test - IIRC Kimmage argues his biological passport had signs of systematic doping but the evidence was not heard at CAS

Real shame the cloud will hang over him and all his results as he looke0 dunbeatable and i guess we know why

Froome would gain time in the mountains over Wiggo, yet Wiggo will have time over Froome on the time trial stages. Can't see Froome staying with sky now.

That's incorrect as the butcher in question has been identified.
Has he doped in the past? Yes, and he's served his time.
Is it universally accepted then that Bertie is currently cheating?

No.

Why has this thread descended into another doping thread, thought it was about Froome and Wiggo's decision to defend his jersey, so bog off and start your own thread about doping.

Its not even universally accepted [ Bertie has never admitted it a has he? some think LA did not cheat still] he did cheat but I am glad you have joined the converted FINALLY ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cheers for Butcher info I did not know that - first link said he denied that it came from where Contador claimed and he was going to sue. Obviously I know little about this- its progress as it was nothing 5 minutes ago.

He has not really served his time he should have done had the Spanish followed the rules rather he had results stripped and served a shorter ban but yes it was as the rules are laid out.

Of course no one knows for sure now it goes without saying surely.
