Finally built my bike up today..
just wanted to show it off really as this is my first bike build..
Stem looks rubbish (bit long) but comfy and my chain device was the wrong one so waiting out til next week for the new one to arrive
you views please (good and the bad)
Nice.
But that stem, err, no.
need new stem.
chain device.
Other than that its pretty nice
your front brake hose looks like its prime for snagging near the caliper
lovely frame!
1993 called....they want their stem back.
Nice looking bike that, but I agree that stem looks wrong.
If you need one that long, is the bike the right size? That's not supposed to sound condescending, that stem is just so long!
I like that a lot !!!
I have a 70mm funn stem in white that would go nicely with the forks for sale if you need it !! £12 posted.
email in profile !!
that stem is just so long!
I THINK ITS A ROAD BIKE?
I was looking it over and thinking, hmmm, lovely that is, and then I realised that you had a narrowboat stuck to your handlebars.
Agree that a chainguide would sort it too. Lovely otherwise. Nice 🙂
I'd paint the forks black, maybe with some very subtle yellow hightlights (get some small vinyl stickers made), then loose the comedy stem and bingo, nice bike 😉
I agree with you about the stem.. But until I can get another it must stay.
And Renton I'm interested I will email you later..
I did have the saint chain device but got the 3 instead of the 5 or something like that.
Off out tomorrow to test it out
that bruder... apart from the ugly bits, is properly nice. Very Jealous, although it'd look better with all my bits on it 😉
Very nice... Apart from the stem.. I'll even allow the white rims.. But don't tell everybody. Nice build mate. But seriously... stem? WTF? ; )
Having an issue with the rear shock.... Got 130psi in it I weigh 12st and still feels rubbish.. I got no manual with the shock so wondered where best place for help setting up?
Nice bike
.. best thing is, the colorway 😉 will melt any snow in the vicinity
You work in a bike shop?
Nice.....except for one thing.. 😀
Sorry to disappoint but I work for royal mail.. Bike shop are mates but I like to sort it tonight if possible
I like the stem. In fact if you flip it you could buzz the front tyre with your handlebars for extra trail fun.
(very nice by the way. I like the sunshine yellow in preparation for our glorious summer)
Holy stem length Batman!
I wouldn't even ride it until the stem's changed, it'll totally destroy the handling of a bike like that.

Define rubbish? Just use the pressure to set the sag at first, then fine tune everything from there
Nice....jealous much.
Stem should be fine for stoppies!
Stem looks wrong and takes the whole bike down massively to the point it looks silly.
If the bars are in the right place with that stem then your saddle needs to go up (a lot) for anything other than riding down hill and you are probably quite tall. So the bike is the wrong size.
and the wheels look really dinky.
Im 6ft 2 and the frame built for 6ft to 6ft 5
Im going to see how the stem handles over tomorrow but looks like im going to need to half the stem size 50mm
shock sorted.. had a play about

Nice bike.. best thing is, the colour[s]way[/s]
No, don't thank me... 😉
Nice to see some Panaracers.
Lovely looking bike that, but you've forgotten the gears on the front.
And I've no idea how you're going to fit the rack.
I'm doin' it for flashy - he loves that stuffkayak23 - Member
No, don't thank me...
dat stem.
I may keep the stem..... Getting loads of love for it 😀
Well, if you can't fit the rack, you could always hang your panniers from it. 🙂
Nice build combination but not my taste in colours. *Insert predictable stem comment here*
Is it me or is the upsweep on the bars quite harsh?
think there 19 degress of the top of my head..
makes it look like it want to fly. 🙂
😆
i love it
I'm surprised you didn't get a dropper-post for it.
6ft2. Why not the 29er version, surely would have made more sense
I quite like the stem.... !
It's very, errr..... Very yellow! 😆
Looks amazing btw 😀
for the love of god, can't there be one thread without the 29er nazi's invading.
Head tube in Truro handlebars in Birmingham.
Other than that very very nice.
Nice bike mate, well done. While you were away though, some bad bugger has fitted panaracers!.
that is an ugly top/down tube gusset, frame size makes the wheels look like 24" but i bet it'll ride amazingly!
Bike shop are mates
Not letting you fit that stem they are not.
Dropper for uninterrupted flow.
Comment on the stem not even required!
No one has mentioned this yet but your stem is too long
...and you have forgotten to fit the granny ring
....and of course the front mech
...oh and the LH shifter
Apart from that I like it
Apart from the stem issue, you need to relook at your logo valve alignment, rear tyre and front tyre are not aligned, rear needs to be sorted as valve not central to logo 😳
Stem's too long, bar needs rotating back, needs a spacer above the stem and the blue bits are minging. 'Part from that, great! 8)
Looks good apart from the extra long old school stem!!
I'm not a fan of white rims, but they look fine on this bike, especially with the white fork. Zee drivetrain? Nice. 8) Needs a dropper, though. 🙂
As others have gently hinted at as to not hurt your feelings, THAT STEM 😯 😯
Edit - valve/logo alignment looks ok to me. Ideally, tire logos at top and bottom for a photo, but since the OP was obviously excited about his new toy, I'll give him a pass this time. 😉 Well, as long as he fixed the stem...
I do not take offence in the slightest.
To be perfectly honest I find the comment rather funny. Lifts my morale..
Probably not going to help the fact that this frame was last min decision all the bits where ment to be for a giant reign.
But seeing this now I glade I got this. After all I'm getting such amazing feedback on that stem 😀
I got a new 50mm stem lined up so once I get it I will post another pic up
I like the color
You gave up on the Giant then. Bike not my bag but I hope you love it to bits and, as they say in these parts, "ride it like you stole it".
That stem blah, blah, blah
Although I noticed that the saddle is all the way back on the rails too. Are you sure you picked the right size frame?
Colour scheme is spot-on
"ride it like you stole it".
What, like in Asda car-park only on the back wheel? 😆
Stem aside, that looks good Brudders although the saddle looks incredibly low compared with the height of your bars.
I think he might just be an Orangutan
is the stem too long ?
To be honest I was kind of peeing in the wind with all the components only had a trek before..
But I'm pleased with it.
Just off now to try it out. Do the tweaking later
Bruders - where did you get the frame from? And how much?
YGM Mattzzzzzz
A bit like a beautiful woman................with teeth like a bag of spanners. Rotten spanners.
I like the Transition better than the Giant, at least in the looks department (which we all know is the most important!). 😉
Frame is a lovely colour... (in the spirit of the thread- would have suited black forks and wheels better! Contrast!)
That's a very nice bike!
I'd change the stem though, it looks like it's 100mm plus, which really isn't going to do the handling any favours on a slack six-incher like that. Otherwise, good effort.
OP - is the stem fixed yet? 😉
Pls post a video of the complete destruction of that early 1990s one! So no one else can make an the same mistake! 😀
How did it ride??!
To be perfectly honest it rode really well..
i loved it..
but i do only have a trek and a 29er to compare it to. and it blew them away. it just ate anything i did. (which was not to it full potential at the moment rusty still myself)
