I can't see why not but thought I'd check if there is something weird with the cable pull or something

I'm guessing NO
on tektro's site they're pictured with standard road brakes on the same page so I assume the pull is for them
(would prob be OK with mini-v brakes - IME with shimano STIs anyway)

Thanks - had a look around. There's another one (rl 520) which is v brake compatible

i'm running 520's with avid mechanical discs, so yes, 520's will run with v-brakes.

I run RL520s with a mini-v on the back and a road caliper on the front and they are fine - they make me stop when I want to.
