[Closed] Teenaged girls - are they all terminally suicidal?

Out for a spin last night, riding through a village in Rossendale & approaching a hill. Bunch of teenaged girls ahead decide to walk out into the middle of the road and stand there, completely blocking the lane. I'm heading towards them at about 12-15mph so plenty of time for avoidance etc.
They move towards the centre of the road most still staring blankly at the oncoming traffic of which i'm a part. I move inside to avoid them when another one of them, facing the OPPOSITE way decides to step off the kerb right into my path at the last moment.
Cue cries of "Watch what you're doing you thick *!" and screams of shock/suprise from the stupid(er) one.

How the * do chavs live long enough to breed if they are this stupid?
I had a vehicle close behind me so not many options as regarding sudden changes of direction.

i find chavs predictably thick. you know they are going to do something stupid, and its pretty easy to forsee what it is?

i nearly flattened 3 apple fanboys yesterday, who were meandering down the middle of the highstreet in exeter (the road, this is, not a pedestrianised bit) sucked into thier iphones.

skinny jeans, flannel shirts, the lot.

i dont think two of them even noticed i swerved around them.

Noobs

It's not just girls is it? It's that whole sub set of "we know you daren't touch us cos you'll get all the blame" that is now prevalent in our society. The individual is now king/queen, no responsibility to society as a whole.

It'll all end in tears. I tell thee.

Drac - the ones in the road were looking at me in plain sight, they knew i was there they just didn't care. They weren't the problem for me (they were for the vehicles behind me though) it was the cretin who decided to join them in the middle of the road by stepping off the kerb without looking whilst facing the opposite way to the direction of the traffic! She was less than 5 ft away when she did it, i managed to avoid her but nearly hit one of the idiots i had previously been trying to avoid.
Couldn't stop because of the car close behind me & couldn't use the opposite carriageway because of oncoming traffic.

Don't know the name of the village - last one before Edenfield if you're heading towards rochdale/bury? coming from the direction of Bacup.

+1 As I stood at the lights yesterday I watched in disbelief as some ****less ned just pushed his way through through a queue of cars on the other side of the junction to cross the road. They live their lives safe in the knowledge the people with jobs who pay taxes and actually behave in a civilised fashion have a lot more to lose than they do and that this sort of anti-social behaviour almost always goes unpunished. Sorry to go a bit Daily Mail but in a lot of cases its not far from the truth

I'm amazed you all manage to stop and interogate them over their tax code and employment history.

Get a Hope rear hub (or similarly noisy one), back pedal a couple of times and everyone can hear you coming.

Failing that, ride with a Vuvusela!

Statistically, teenagers are far more likely to be killed/seriously injured as pedestrians aren't they?

Something to do with their heads up their arses because they're so absorbed in themselves and their peers.

Some of the teenagers round here walk down the middle of the road because they somehow think its cool to make the cars stop for them.

It's always been a problem. Even 30 years ago.

I found locking up the back wheels on my car with the handbrake produced enough drama to scatter them. Different story with a bike though - maybe an airhorn at the very last moment?

Well the daft cow jumped high enough when i yelled at her!
Its as though she genuinely didn't know it was an A-road and liable to be carrying fairly heavy traffic. Her mates were doing that thing mentioned above 'look at me being brave/hard' etc but she was in her own world.

Still, gives the local community something to moan about when one of them gets killed on the road...

Common problem where I work in sunny Toxteth, lads swagger across/straight down the road with their hands down the front of their track suits or the hoopy ear-ring girls who just cross the road without looking (usually pushing a pram into the path of any vehicle)

Some of our HGV drivers don't even bother slowing now as they have cameras in the cabs which have shown the idiots to be deliberately trying to jump in front of the lorry.

We used to get the suicide-walk teenagers back where I lived some time ago. I gave up braking for them (obviously I avoided hitting them!) and tended to just keep going with the horn blaring. If they stood still it was a game of chicken. I always won (but I'd always ensure I had room to stop).

Overshoot - yeah I once drove through toxteth and had prams thrown into the road in front of me, and then large gangs surrounding my car - was great fun, I think that was the only time I've paid absolutely no attention to what would happen to them if I hit them, I got out of there rapidly!

He's got a right of way. Do you expect him to stand and wait for the queue to disappear before he crosses? I wouldn't.

TBH I often cross by squeezing between moving traffic at junctions because in a crowded city you'd never get anywhere if you waited for the green man. But I always make sure I don't get in thway or cause people to brake, I think it's part of city life isn't it - you need to be able to merge with the traffic and slip through the gaps, even if it requires standing on the centre line and waiting for the next gap?
