Recently started jamming the chain in the chainrings. When I went from 8 to 9 speed, should I have changed the jockey wheels?

And where should the b-tension screw be set?

What did you change? Should have been - Chain, cassette, shifters.

If you've put a new chin on your old chainrings, thsi is probably the casue, and you'll need a new chainring or two as well....

Chain, cassette, shifters tick.

Played with a double setup for a while so new middle ring. That's when I was getting the chain suck. Went back to old rings and still getting it.

Problem seems to be at the cassette end, won't backpedal for example.

Is the rear mech 9 speed compatible?

Sounds like a freewheel problem. What hub do you have?

back pedaling jam can also be d.t. mech and indexing issues ?

Hadn't considered the freewheel - wheelset came off gumtree, Cannondale own brand I think. Nothing special.

Will have a bash at taking it apart and regreasing.

Mech is Deore, assumed it was 9spd compatible (narrower chain so same range of movement as 8spd, no?). Might be time for an upgrade.

Rebuild and service the free hub.

2nd that on the freehub if it is not back pedalling. Not sure this is the cause or related to the chain suck issue under power though so this may still need to be looked at.

You don't usually need new rings ,cassette and chain yes always change these together.Your freehub may need replacing which is an easy job.
