Carlos idea is a good one, though i would prefer the allocation of prizes as the first drawn get 'best prize' tat being the BMX or guided holiday.

Then with prizes of similar value, stems, grips, gloves ect. give the winner the choice.

I thought that the idea of a raffle is that you get what ever your number comes out against. As in pretty random.

So I quite like Carlos' idea for keeping it a surprise.

Hmm... ok.

So picture the scene - you're watching the raffle draw, LIVE on your compooter screen... I draw out your name first! HAIRYCHESTED! First ticket...I draw out your prize! Peanut M&Ms! Yay.

Surely, you'd prefer first drawn, first choice? You know, like those raffles where they have a load of stuff on a table, last thing is always a box of Ferrero Rochers. First drawn gets to go up to the table and pick the DVD player...

Help me out guys!

I think that's the way you should do it, might take a little longer to get all the prizes given out, but hey, this is about raising money for charity - and means people that have donated are more likely to be happy should they win something too!

It's not what prefer, it's what is more in line with the raffle soul - pull a name from one hat, pull a prize from the second hat. Next!
BTW If I won Peanut M&M's I could listen to offers, couldn't I? Even if the BMX winner insisted on swapping 😉

correct.

or you grade the prizes.
1st ticket pulled, Holiday
2nd ticket pulled, Bmx
3rd ticket pulled etc
etc

Most raffles have a "star" prize to lure you into [s]buying[/s] donating.

wed 15th is good for me. So is carlos' idea of drawing one ticket for a prize, then a ticket to see who's won it.

lemme know if you need to test streaming video. are you going to have live chat so we can all scream "FIX!!!!!" when you win the bmx ? 🙂

15th Good here too.

The M&M's are PEANUT BUTTER not the regular ones. Much nicer than the regular ones and not available in the UK

Huh! That would presume that a magazine or other body had actually taken notice of this charity event and was promoting it...
No, I was just going to use UStream.com . Tested it the other day and it seems simple enough.

Be a bit careful about publicising this too widely. There may be an issue with Gift Aid and the raffle.

Hi Dez - If people happen to donate money to the charity and you happen to run an unrelated free of charge raffle then there is no conflict and GiftAid is fine.

Unless you can prove that the donation to charity is directly linked to the raffle ticket you should be fine.

If I make a donation but don't send you an email then I don't enter the raffle. therefor the donation and raffle are not explicitly linked.

Long winded waffle to say GiftAid should be fine and bump BTW

£200 is good, but not really when you consider the number of people here that could easily afford a quid.

I'm gonna send another fiver over....who's with me?

Added a Pavarotti to the pot last night - got an e-mail suggesting the earlier fiver had not cleared, turns out i'd needed to update the expiry date on my 'remembered' card so, doubled to the donation to salve my embarrassment....

oh, I would like gently to point out that I donated yesterday after seeing the thread but didn't wish to enter the raffle (I hate bike maintenance and not a fan of metallica 🙂 ) - I'm guessing that I'm not the only person to have done this so I would imagine your total is probably higher than your receipts say?
