Morning all,
After a bit of info regarding headsets and the like. I have had 1 1/8" steerers and headtubes for ages and the new bike I am looking at comes with a 1.5" headtube.
So the questions:
I like the idea of tapered steerers, so are there tapered headsets, or do I need to buy a 1.5" bottom race and some sort of adapter for the top and then a 1 1/8" top race
I also like the look of the new fork angle adapters - who make sthem and will they work with tapered steerers?
Many thanks
Dave
If you have a 1.5" headtube, you have a few options. You can run, 1.5" steerer forks, tapered steerer forks and 1 1/8" steerer forks. To do this there are headsets available for all.
For example, with my mmmBop (1.5" headtube) I was planning on running tapered forks. To do this, I was going to use the Superstar T1 headset;

If you were going to use 1 1/8" forks on the mmmBop, you could use a step down/ reducer headset, such as;

There are ther companies who do them though...
Hope this helps!
I use this headset in my Prophet to run a set of tapered Revelations. It works very well, and the bearings have been lasting well. 1.5" headtubes are great to me, because they give you the greatest flexibility: you can run any forks.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about angle adjusting headsets.
