If you are like me and have an aerodynamic head with no hair, whilst the smoothness reduces drag, I keep getting sweat on my glasses lenses because there is no hair to soak up the sweat.
I’ve tried one of those skinny head bands and they just delay the inevitable.
Does anyone have a pair of glasses that don’t catch all the sweat? Road and fast mtb / XC style riding.
You need a John McEnroe Terry towel headband job.
And a unibrow.
I'm afraid this isn't a problem of glasses, it's an issue of physics and you're unlikely to fix that.
I have the same streamlining, and have found nothing that really works.
Best mitigation I've found is a Buff worn as a bandana "pirate-style" under the helmet - I think the full head coverage may work better than a sweatband thingy but, as you say, it only really delays the inevitable rather than solving the problem.
Same here, i was considering prescription swimming goggles! 😀
Same issue as OP. I've been using a Halo headband which definitely helps, but an hour at lunchtime in the current heat managed to overwhelm it.
I remember seeing silicon headbands that had a channel on the front so the sweat would run away and down the sides of ones face, rather than into your eyes/glasses.
No idea if they're still a thing/even work though.

With the Halo I find it depends which helmet I'm wearing as to the overwhelm timescale. Ancient MET lid - 2-3 hours easily; GIRO Fixture - 30 minutes or less in current conditions. I love the Fixture as it's so light but by God does it make me sweat.
Another Halo user here, I find it works really well, and channels the sweat away from my forehead so doesn't get overwhelmed
There's also this.... https://www.sweatgutr.com/
My Julbo's have great vent holes and really good ability to not steam...
Pirate style buff under my MTB helmet or cap under road helmet keeps almost all sweat out my glasses.
I have a GUTR headband recommended on here (this is the silicone band mentioned above) - brilliant bit of kit
The advantage of the GUTR is its just a channel in the headband that diverts it away from your brow and it runs down your temples - this means it cant top out like a cloth band
Don't wear glasses is unfortunately the only answer I have ever come up with for this issue (my head drips regardless of the time of year)
I just gave up wearing glasses on hot days (unless high up in the Alps).
The new Oakley helmet has a sweat channel instead of forehead foam I think.
I want to say Giro or Bluegrass (or someone) had them as well a few years ago. Not tried them as any helmet that came with one didn’t come in a big enough size for my head.
My sweat is so salty that wearing contacts can be an issue too, eyes closed up due to stingy sweat are that useful.
I've had the Gutr, Halo, and Headsweats. Didn't get on with the Gutr but the Halo and Headsweats both work to a point but nothing can cope with that amount of sweat.

I would never have attempted glasses before, as I am far more blessed with sweat than most, but that Oakley helmet has worked a treat for me, directs sweat out the sides really well, and I can now wear glasses (Melon Optics) while riding, with the added bonus of some really secure glasses clips on top of the lid too, so if I want to take them off, I can stow them safely.
Good to know @honourablegeorge. Shame they come up too small for my noggin (I think).
Actually I think it was Met helmets that used to have the silicon sweat gutter thing not Giro
I'm normally sweatier than a sweaty thing. Used GUTR's before, and they work well, but something to retard the dreaded drip is more useful.
The halo works well, the rubber section does stop a lot of sweat getting to your eyes and glasses, but yes, it too doesn't quite fix all of the problems.
using a buff for me, just meant my head was warmer and I sweat more.
current preference is for the halo, though I need to keep my eyebrows trimmed (I'm no 'the hood') otherwise I get a breach...
Very heavy sweater here with minimal hair who wears glasses and contact lenses
Currently using the Halo, need to stop every 30-60 mins to wring it out and sometimes it will drip into my eyes when wearing contacts
Tried a buff and didnt get on with it, just made my head hotter!
Really liked my now lost Sweat GutR, never had any sweat get into my eyes, just a trickle down the side of the face now and again, easy to wipe away if it was annoying
Really should buy another one
I have hair and have the same issue. I have found it depends on the glasses too. My Pro Mframes don't suffer this issue but my M-Frames do. The worst ones though are the Jawbreakers I've given up using those off road and use them only on road where the airflow keeps my melon a little cooler.
I'm not bald but do sweat a lot. I wear Oakley Flak 2.0 XL glasses with prescription lenses which seem to fair quite well with sweat - they sit a little further from my face so unless I'm properly head down they tend to avoid most of the dripping. My old Giro Hex helmet used to be awful, sweat would just pour down my face once the padding got soaked, I got a Smith helmet about 18 months ago and that seems much better.
On days like today I'll generally wear a roady cap, even in the heat it helps as seems to wick the sweat away and help it evaporate.
I don't know why, but my Melon Alleycat specs seem to fare remarkable well in front of my very sweaty head and face, by comparison with old smaller full frame specs. I'm only 2 rides in on them, but it was pouring off me yesterday. I think perhaps they just curve around my face in such a way as they stay forward of the sweat, but also they seem to retain good clear vision through a bit of sweaty dirty use. Lots of variation between helmets too. Better airflow and different padding designs make a big difference to me, with Specialized Ambush (old model) being much better than Giro Chronicle (exceptionally sweaty) or TLD A1.
I’ve tried one of those skinny head bands and they just delay the inevitable.
Which one? I have a Halo one with the rubber strip, and it removes about 90% of the sweat on my lenses.
I get two problems - small droplets being shaken off my wild eyebrows, and large drips landing on and running down my shades (I am forced to wear contact lenses because of this issue in the first instance).
There are two styles of shades - ones that hug your eyes like Jawbones and ones that stand off your face like Jawbreakers (other brands and models are available). The ones that stand off your face are clearly much less susceptible to the small droplets, but then downside is some element of reflection of your face in the lenses when riding into the sun.
Now I use the Halo sweat band and Jawbreakers I don't get small droplets any more, just the occasional drip which always seems to be towards the edge of the field of view. This can be avoided somewhat when you know one is coming and you can remove the shades and wipe your face with the towelling bit on your glove.
But the most reliable option is to remove your shades on climbs and stick them in your helmet vents like a pro. However with Jawbreakers they didn't fit that well on my current lid so I had to remove the peak.
oh, BTW, eyebrows can be tames by using vaselne. looks slick too and everyone will be asking who did them....
no, not really. but it does help direct sweat away
escrs
Very heavy sweater here with minimal hair
I hope you have't put that on your Tinder bio 🙂
At least it's not groin rot.
@lovewookie how does that work, do you just smear a strip of vaseline across your forehead to act as a gutter?
sortof yeah, just across the top of your eyebrows. I mean, It's not brilliant, but it does help as a tertiary measure.
The vaseline trick works really well.
I recently got some Oakley Radar 'Advancer' glasses for the road/gravel and these are great, they can sit a little further off your face and thats also prevented them getting all sweaty/slimy/steaming up when cold etc.
I did wonder about vaseline but was concerned it would just end up a mess. I may give it a try.
Halo works well for me and i'm a right sweaty bastard, and completely bald. I also use Oakley Jawbreakers which are vented so help a bit I suppose. I've tried normal thin headbands and they just don't work.
Havne't tried the vaseline trick though so might give that a go.
I'm a sweaty giffer too, but my 'sweat down face' issues seem to be entirely dependent on the helmet I'm wearing.
I have a Giro fixture that is light and possibly the most comfortable helmet I've ever had, but it accumulates brow sweat thats runs down my face and into my eyes like no other helmet I've ever had.
My UVEX finale by comparison barely drips on the hottest of days, but is black and is notably hot when the sun is strong.
I'm about to try a Fox speedframe that has massive brow ports for air flow. I've that doesnt work, the Oakley with the silicone strip is next!
I have a Giro fixture too, and a manifest. Both are prone to the same problem of soaking up sweat to the point of saturation and then dripping annoyingly, although the manifest is much better than the fixture when it comes to that. My solution is to stop periodically and squeeze the padding against my forehead to release a cascade of sweat. These days I’ve become much better a recognising when I need to do it to prevent a drip happening into my glasses just before entering a feature of doom.
