Just got a digital pressure gauge. Surprised how low I've been running my tyres for last few years, about 22 psi rear and 18 psi front. This is on single ply minions.
The pressures are what I've been using because they feel the best but surprised how low they actually are.
What pressures are you lot running?

ps I'm 12.5 stone and tyres are 2.35 sp minions (tubed)

Just had this conversation with 2 of my mates. They insist on 35 + but I much prefer closer to 20psi front and 25 rear.

Curiously, out of the 3 of us, I have not suffered any pinch flats? (they have)

I run High rollers 2.35 SP

I think it's good idea to add your tyre width and personal weight for nerdy comparison purposes!

30F, 35R
85kg, 2.1" Nevegals, Tubes

I run 32.5 to 35 on the rear - any lower and I pinch puncture

on the front I go as low as 25

2.35 Nobby Nics, Racing Ralphs and Mud xs

I weigh 10.5 stone

Put 35psi in my high roller 2.35 (SP) and semi slick on the rear for the first time in ages, for a quick trundle round the park with the missus!

Felt horrible, will be back to 25-27 ASAP.

On the plus side, despite having to push up the only significant hill, and chickening out of the only 'gnarl-core freeride-lite rock garden' (remains of a dry stone wall) she did make it safely down the off camber muddy bit that ends in a particularly slippery roll-in to the track with out a second thought!

Did a whole summer running Panaracer Razor 2.1s at 55psi. Loved it! Really fast. Lacked a bit of grip tho! heh heh 😛

Bout the same here.. 18psi tubeless on the front and around 30ish on the back. Usually a bit softer on the full sus and a bit harder on the hardtail as I keep mashing rear tyres. 10.5 Stone BTW

Dont go anywhere near the Devils Staircase with less than 40 psi. Last ride with the Weegies saw about thirty pinch flats.

I think it's folly to use PSI numbers. Just do the thumb test.

BigJohn - I think most people do the thumb test and ride what feels the best BUT to compare different peoples "thumb tests" we are telling each other what psi that equates too.

Except for the huge inaccuracies in measurement, the huge variances in rider weights and the difference in tyre shape and volumes, I agree.

Anywhere between 31.693858492 and 31.693858494 is the best pressure.

Mojo5pro - Surprised you don't...
roll the tyres off the rims at every corner, pinch tubes/rip tyres/dent rims at the hint of rock

That's more of a Power-XC/FreeCore Mince Lite pressure - in the dry only though.

Complete disaster running that pressure in the wet....

25 to 30 here.

At 25 I can feel the rear tyre occasionally thumping off the rim, so I try to stay closer to 30 when the trails dry a little and the speeds pick up.

I once ran tioga DH 2.1s at about 15 PSI ghetto. They were great, apart from burping. Nice thick sidewalls on those. A bit heavy for my riding style these days though.

the track pump says 30psi, be it skinny tyres, fat tyres or car tyres.

I just pump mine up to about 40psi, then pump them up again once they start to feel a bit 'soft'.

Life's too short...

31.693858493 then?

yes but what happens when you come out of the shade of trees into sunlight? think we need to up the data a bit

Pressure
Tyres and if correctly line up
Habitat
Weather conditions
Layers of clothing
Volume of Liquids carried
Bizzare items in pack
If not tubeless where the tubes paid for or "borrowed"
Rider weight and if any voluntary/involuntary weight losses en route

should do for starters - the devil is in the detail

35 psi which often drops to around 25 before I check them again. I don't really seem to notice that change though.

60kg currently 2.0 Mud X front and rear

20 to 30 front and rear, depending on the terrain I'll be riding on mostly. 2.2 rubber queens, 55kg.

just cos your gauge is digital, dunt make it any more accurate, innit.

I run 50psi with Speed King Supersonics but 35psi or so with pretty much everything else.

ahwiles - no it doesn't but my OP was having never took my tyre pressures before, I was surprised how low they are, that's all. I am presuming that the gauge is relativley accurate though.

20 psi front and rear.
using nobby nics snakeskin 2.4s any more and they bounce you around a bit when the going gets rocky.
Used to use panaracer fires and always had to put a minimum of 25 in them to avoid pinchies, no such hassles with the massive nobby nics though ( although saying that has probably just jinxed me)
and am around 10 stone that helps

I don't trust pressure gauges, but FWIW I'm 11 stone and normally put about 35-40psi in 2.35ish tyres. I don't get the low pressure thing (<25psi), I don't like the wriggly feeling and doesn't the tyre just come off in corners?

I hate the feel of low pressures - that squidgy feel as they roll around on the rim feels like a motorbike with a flat. Some tyres need much higher pressures than others so my tyres are in the 30 - 55 psi range.

did the exact same, but raced it on the front. Can't say i loved it, not aas grippy as crossmarks and they kept on washing out, but they are tremendously fast and light to (almost) make up for it.

Just got a pressure gauge which claims to be accurate to within 0.5 psi. Bontrager Mud-X, 2.0F 1.8R - 17 psi front, 21 psi rear. 12 stone on a Boardman HT Pro. Riding the clay and chalk of the South Downs and woodland singletrack. Shocked at how low they are - when I pumped them up a couple of months ago the track pump gauge had them at 28 and 34 psi, so not sure how much is pump gauge inaccuracy and how much is deflation over time. Rolling well off-road and tons of grip.

Usually run Speed Kings and Bontrager ACX's at 40psi. Did a race though a couple of weeks ago and had a tubeless blow-out owing to a cut - however managed to stuff just enough air in to keep going once it sealed. I didn't bother about the pressure, just straight back on as soon as it stopped hissing and had a tiny bit of pressure (was on last lap). I was astonished at the extra grip and it still rolled well, as well as not being flung in the air all over the roots - really made me think I should drop my pressures a fair bit. I checked it at home on the track pumnp and it read somewhere a bit below 20psi.

Never really thought to experiment with pressures, have only just gone to tubeless and still in the pinch flat mindset.
