i have an old dented surly

i want to, ideally, not buy ANOTHer frame... does anyone know someone who'd braze on a mech hanger for it, and paint it in hammerite white! or is there another option. I can't afford a rohloff and the old 8 speed alfine doesn't give a 'touring round the highlands' kinda range does it...

any top tips appreciated

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use a band on mech?

Sorry if that's missing the point though

not sure if these work with the 1x1 frame, with it's industrial strength dropouts? will it all fall to bits when the wheel comes off... maybe not. was just pondering the cost of someone doing a simple frame mod.

if anyone recommends a frame welder in the south, that might do this for some cash, then that would be ace

@ Ben .... Me again 😆

What would someone be looking at to have a mech. "Bit" added to horizontal dropouts?

Been thinking of adding one to my Fortitude adventure.

Um (pulls a number out of thin air) £25?

I might make a little fixture for doing that, I've done it a few times before.

Those mech hanger chain tug thingies work fine for getting the mech in the right place, but add to faffage when taking out / putting back wheel.
