I thought it was less rad than freeride-lite but more gnar than enduro...?

It's a bit like xxxc-lite.

I have a bike that's been built up for xxxc-medium.

If i put Racing Ralphs on it will it be ok for xxxc-lite?

Damn it - I'm running Ralphs and I thought it was built up for xxxc-medium.. (do I need new tyres?) 😯

ps. I've never taken my hardtail skiing before, will I need a different hat? 🙂

Does this count?

NS Surge. 150mm 'zocchi rc3ti forks.

Riding this yesterday made me realise that this does handle better than any other bike I've owned. Fantastic bike.

Super D (SD) is a blend of cross-country and downhill. Most of the race is downhill, on trails similar to the downhill segment of a cross-country race. There are also short (100–500m) uphill sections which make the use of downhill bicycles difficult, as a result, most riders use cross-country or 'trail bikes'. Depending on the trail and race venue, the start may either be seeded (riders start in short intervals), or Le Mans mass start (riders run to their bikes, timing is started when the riders start running). Probably the most famous of this type is the Megavalanche.

I'm looking at building something up but based on more of a jump frame, maybe thinking a bit more grr is needed, perhaps a SURGE like the one above 😉

Forks are adjustable so you'll have to imagine them being 20mm longer.

I guess it's sort like of what we call 'bike rallies'.

FFS I thought we'd finally decided that it was called 'Enduro'?
It's a rubbish, misleading title but at least we seem to know what it means. I still insist enduro should be called 'rally' because that's a much better name and everyone knows what a rally is.

Anyway, my old rad HT;

Since replaced with a Five - very boring choice, but much much faster almost everywhere.

Agreed, Enduro is a silly name (Enduro is 24 hour races and that), but Super D is even sillier. My bike is silly in the good way though (although, as with Fortunateson, I now have a Five and don't ride this anywhere near as much as I should now)

Those Shans look incredible. Now Evil don't make the Sovereign that and the Stanton have to be the answer to all hardcore hardtail problems.

Yeah I would probably have had a Sovereign if the right one had showed up at the right time, and a Slackline was very much on the shortlist. Just lurve riding/looking at my Shan anyway though.

Probably not really following the rules but that's my BFe although it's now sporting orange Race Face grips, orange Superstar Nano pedals and an orange X0 rear mech.

It doesn't stand me at much cash and is great fun mucking about in the local woods.

@ _Tom_

[img] [/img]

I had a NS Surge before, fantastic bike, loads of fun to rag around but a bit too small for me. Gave me back issues on longer rides - I was going to get a large frame but saw the Kona frame on CRC in my size. It's a great frame, much more comfy but still fun. Rides best with the fork at about 130mm so might switch to something like a Rev or Sektor to shave some weight!
