Went to a wedding in Shere (Surrey) on Saturday, I knew it was a biking area as we used to ride in the hills around there when I lived in London but blimey I didn't realise how many Roadies now ride the North Downs!
More Rapha and Carbon Exotica than I see in a year over in Somerset, lots of tubby blokes too ๐
Not many MTBs though, I guess they're all up at Leigh Woods tower having a cup of tea and comparing "narrow wides" or something.
It was packed with Roadies in Surrey, great news in my opinion, people getting off their back sides and exercising. Its great to see the roads full of bikes instead of cars.
Fatties on Dura Ace Pinarellos subsidise the rest of us.
Thanks, slow tubsters!
My daughter will be jealous of your friends, its her dream to be married in the Church there !
Most MTB-ers will be up in the hills, either NDW or Winterfold/Pitch/Holmbury. My normal XC rides used to take me through Shere at some stage, its on the Surrey Cycle Route #22
If you think there where a lot of roadies in Shere you should go to Box Hill or Peaslake.
Yep Shere is very busy - it's a quiet route south into the Surrey Hills. Rode through there on saturday on the way to Barhatch and a few more local favourites. I did 80miles with a couple of absolutely roadies. Riding past winterfold "Is there much MTBing up here" Doh ๐ณ
Loads out around here (west berkshire) yesterday too, quite a few big groups including one large group of older gents wearing proper retro kit and riding some classic looking bikes. Was tempted to turn around and catch up with them to get a proper look.
Church was indeed lovely, apparently it's been used in movies and stuff. Vicar was v.good too, I'm not normally a fan but he seemed to be able to give a sermon that actually meant something to a non believer like me.
@acjim - church was used for the Bridget Jones movie wedding but with some of the most appalling GCI you'll ever see. Also quite bit of "The Holiday" was filmed around there (also in Godalming High Street). The William Bray pub roof is white, they sprayed it with fake snow for an ad but they cannot get it off !!
When I was living in Singapore I had a shot of the church on a lovely clear blue sky day as my phone screen saver as it used to remind me of home.
