I’ve run out of sun cream so looking to get some more…one that stays on doing its job despite sweat pouring off me when it’s hot! I knows there’s loads of brands and factors but as with everything there are varying degrees of quality. Thinking factor 50. Rub on or spray on? This will be used for when not on the bike too…what works for you?

P20 works for us. I prefer the oil I can pour into my hands and apply rather than the spray on most type. Cream I find too heavy to be able to work in comfortably through all the hair.

Asda own brand factor 15...and im redhead...you can get it in small bottles so easy to carry with you.
I find this the best rub on variety as its the least 'sticky' YMMV.
For spray on, ambre solaire dry - factor 30/50. Again the least sticky.
Unfortunately, I have never yet found a sunscreen that doesn't instantly make sweat piss out of my pores as soon as its applied!! Now, if only one of the genius cosmetic companies could come up with a dry, breathable, midge-repelling sunscreen... 🤣

Solrx sunscreen or P20 is what I use just make sure the P20 dries before putting light colour clothes on as it stains like hell
I do prefer the solrx but P20 is easier to get as costco stock it. Solrx is amazon or waters sports shops normally

+1 on collar and sleeves - mrs_oab and I have some super lightweight wicking tops from Rab and Asics for this.

I also use Soltan once now - it's thicker than other ones and seems to not sweat away so much.

Ultrasun. Not cheap but the best I've tried.

Ultrasun here - put off by P20's habit of staining stuff.

Soltan once for me. Copes pretty well with sweat. Have only needed to reapply after swimming or riding in v hot conditions (alpine climbs in 30+ degrees)

I use Pelotan....Similar to P20 but no staining and goes on easy. You can get a 25% discount on it if you are a BC member.

Another Riemann P20 user here. Mainly because it doesn’t feel sticky like my childhood experiences of suncream which continue to haunt me. Also Hawaiian Tropics shimmer oil in factor 10 for the lovely way it makes my legs look.

Something like this would work well.

https://arcteryx.com/gb/en/shop/mens/remige-hoody

Doesn’t the bloke on Hardtail Party wear one? And given he’s somewhere a lot hotter and sunnier than the Uk may know a thing or two about sun protection.

Ultrasun sport, just give it 30 mins before going out to save bugs/dirt sticking.

We've used P20 and it's great but stains things. Been using Calypso and it's pretty good - apply once, soaks in, not greasy, and doesn't burn your eyes when you sweat.

As above though, cover up if possible is the best protection. Probably shouldn't say this here, but I bought a roady cycling cap a couple of weeks ago. I do quite a few miles on the road bike and often end up with a burnt scalp, wore a cap for a very sunny 120km sportive in Yorkshire and it was surprisingly good. Kept the sun off my head and out of my eyes and didn't feel too hot or sweaty. I didn't really notice I was wearing it. Probably looked a right dick though.

Long sleeved summer tops are a thing now apparently. I've got one from Assos. LS but really thin and it's nice and cool. As with my Endura tops there's a sort of collar flap at the back that protects my neck when riding - well, at least on road where I'm leaning over more.

I use Nivea spray. Works well enough cycling and also white water paddling.

Here's hoping the free trade deal with us down under people gets you some decent factor 50 as well as high hormone meat...Mrs antigee uses P20 but doesn't do the washing

Au Cancer council sensitive sport 50 for me..if lazy banana boat 50 sport spray on my legs...long sleeves have a couple of NZ Ground Effect tops much better than standard cycling stuff...

I was almost sold on P20 until I realised that it was staining all of my light coloured tops & they ended up in the bin.

Hawaiian Tropic is my favourite for ease of rubbing in & not leaving a greasy residue, but it has poor UVA protection so that one is now out.

We've got various kids ones (it brings my daughter out in a rash so we have tried almost every sun cream brand over the last 5 years) and the Ambre Solaire kids factor 30 one goes on OK, doesn't run with sweat & seems to stay on for ages. It's a little bit greasy on your hands, but OK on your skin after a while.

Just stocked up on these:

https://www.boots.com/soltan-kids-stick-spf50-25g-10245702

No mess, easy to carry and apply, it's only kids as it's fragrance free, 50spf,

Another vote for the Solrx Waterblock Sunscreen. I've used it for years. Even in and out of the water on diving holidays in the Caribbean I found it good for a once-a-day application.

Not found anything better than La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sun Protection (you can get it in Boots). It's not cheap at 14 quid a can but it's worth the money. It's a really light spray and doesn't get sticky. Never burned while wearing it.

Use sunbum here, it is water safe and smells like coconut.

Apart from that i go for the cover up option when i can or remember

Another for P20 factor 50 here. Good for once a day application but make sure it has thoroughly dried on the forehead before you start sweating otherwise you will be temporarily blinded.

Kids Roll on type SPF50, we've got some Superdrug stuff like the boots above.

I found that roll-one was by miles the easiest way to apply, and its a bit 'thicker' than the spray or cream stuff. Used it at the MTB marathon last week where I was sweating like a bastard, I know I would have aboslutely crisped in those conditions normally and it worked spot on.

Definitely look for stuff aimed at kids for the aforementioned reasons IMO.

if I'm out on an all-dayer I sometimes use surf mud. Sticks like anything and basically lasts forever. its what auzzies use for a full day on the water.

I don't know if you can get it here, but other zinc-based pastes are probably the same

I’ve not given it a lot of thought - normally use Hawaiian Tropic factor 15 on arms / face / back of neck. Hey do a small 100mm tube of cream that goes on ok. Main thing is it smells nice so use it for everything sun related. I also have it in factor 30 if I’m going to be out all day rather than just for a few hours.

Superdrug do it cheaper than anywhere else.

Another vote for p20 here. I find the staining only happens whilst it’s drying so I tend to put it on as soon as I get up and then get dressed 10 minutes later once it’s dried. It last all day even in alpine sunshine so I don’t have to think about reapplying it
