After the Bearded man this weekend I'm in full 'event mode' so whose coming to Lee quarry next weekend?
I'm actually 'racing' (read wheezing my way round) at this one too ๐Ÿ˜€

Might call up on the Saturday for a nosey, but Sunday clashes with the Manchester to Blackpool for Christies.

Yes I'm riding and Mrs Crackfox and Sprocket the Border Terrier should be marshalling as well.

Just need to decide which bike to bring!!

I'll be there, camera gear in tow, for at least 1 of the days.

I'm coming but not riding. I'm going to take my girls along, on their bikes, to point at the funny fat men on their clown bikes ๐Ÿ˜‰ Might get them some rotten veg and eggs to throw actually

I'm coming out to play. Looking for a top 20 finish this year but will probably fail badly now I've said it out loud. Got a new saddle and seat post so that should make me 7% faster at least.

Right, made sure I got my entry in last night...

Now, as a first timer to this event, and never having visited Lee Quarry before either, which bike to take? And what tyres? ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Have seen a few vids of last years racing online, and some vids of the trails up there being ridden, looks smooth enough to not bother with full sus to me. Or will a 5" full sus be an advantage overall do you reckon?

Tyre wise, thinking about 2.2-2.3", fairly knobbly and grippy up front, but a fast rolling tyre on the back... Would that be about right? Or am I gonna lose too much time on the DH I can't make up on the XC if I don't go for all out grip?
