[Closed] STW group ride calendar thread?

Do you reckon it would be a good idea to have a STW group ride calendar thread, possibly as a sticky?

It would just include the proposed date, location and time. There could still be the separate threads for the individual rides where people confirm they are coming, complain about the time and distance and then say how great their ride was.

This would allow people to quickly and easily see what group rides are proposed in any given area rather than having to trawl through all the threads looking for possibly obscure topics.

Let's vote

A - Good idea - Lets start a thread
B - Bad idea - Lets keep searching the forum

A sticky would be pointless, too much going on in one thread.

If you're gonna have anything a separate 'rides' forum would make more sense. I'm not sure it's needed.

also, most of the rides don't actually have any official ST support, and given some of the protagonists (ahem) they might prefer to deny any responsibility...

Hmm like njee said a sticky wouldn't be much good but what about a ride organiser asks about interest in a group ride on the forum. When a few people sign up and details are finalised organiser then books a slot on a calendar hosted here (or linked to from here) with start time and location?

Edit: oh yeah forgot about the responsibility bit. Anyone fancy anonymously setting up a google cal or similar for this?

what works well for this type of thing is have a google calendar where everyone has read access, but only one person has write access to it - that one person needs to be someone who people can email or send PMs to and doesn't mind updating it when they do.

Sounds like someone needs to set up a google calendar then. Perhaps with one main organiser per area
