I'm going looking for pups then I would like a new hound ๐
big black cat like thing the last time I did the Climachx trail
It was a goat... he's a bit of a local hero
him and the straw man at Llanwrin
still s8tannorm - MemberI belive where we're heading was the last place in the Uk to lose its population of wild wolves
We're going to Scotland!!! ๐
Singlespeedpunk bumped into the strawman on our last bivi trip out that way!

Room for a fat Lad?
If so, then Yes, I'll be up for this..
Anyone need a Lift fom Chester/ Manchester area???
Plenty of room Teeto.
I have however decided to tie flatfish and tollah together with a rope for the duration ๐
tie flatfish and tollah together
Sorry hadn't realised it was 'that' sort of trip!
Hi all, I like the sound of this too, have to check dates at the mo but thought I'd register the interest ๐
Lol, I'll do my very best not to loose anyone although this time if anyone does get lost it won't be anything to do with me. I will however buy Flatfish a beer or at the very least assuming there are no pubs offer a go on my hipflask in form of an apology!
Up to the Star at Dylife then. ๐
Star Inn ... I'd rather nail my nob to a table ๐ฏ
I'd not want to see that S8tannorm! Looks like I'll be packing 2 hipflasks then.
Sorry, I meant to say "I'd rather nail flatfish's nob to a table" ๐
Ok, I don't want to see any mantwig during that weekend, or any other weekend come to think of it
Get your grubby hands off my knob. ๐ฏ
At least if my knobs nailed to a table you'll know where to find me.
Good point flatfish, would you like to borrow my trailer for the table? I can fit a hammer and a few nails in my bag.
@still s8tannorm
Will this include a pub option?
Bin kit, put lights on, cycle to pub?
(yes, I am aware of the scareness of pubs near Nant y Moch ๐ )
Doubt it, nearest pub is about 10k away.
I doubt it too. Nearest would be the Star (which you don't want to go to). Other than that it'd be back into Mach or the George Borrows ... but don't let that put you off ๐
Nearest would be the Star (which you don't want to go to).
Coz i'm apparently having my knob nailed to the table.
You gotta lay some entertainment on flatfish. If we can't do the nailing then I'll have to take the collection of gin traps I found ... set them, hide them in the grass and wait for someone to go for a slash or there's always your telly. ๐
Don't know if i'm taking the plasma yet as i might slum it with the ground dwellers, might try and be a bit more social.
Gin traps sound fun.
.....so, back on topic then:
Which tyres for a wet/ rocky mid-Wales bivvy trip? ๐
And while we're at it, a quick straw poll:
What whisky do you have in your hipflask?
White wine for me, per-lease.
None of this tramp juice for me.
I shall only think about tyres once I've decided which bike to ride ๐
Copious amounts of tea will be my choice of refreshment ... but not in a hipflask.
hmmmmm
Only one for a 'Welsh' bivvy
Penderyn
well last bothy trip I took in tetra paks of red wine they fit perfectly in bottle cages!!
have found Asda now do vodka in a tetra pak so that could be an upgrade in strength ๐
how are the plans coming on for this???
I'll be bringing Glenlivet 12yr old and maybe a Balvenie rum cask.
Thats about all I've decided so far oh and maybe gears!
oh and maybe gears!
Burn him.
I've already been burnt down today! You can't burn me twice in the same day, new forum rules duh!
String him up with a gear cable then. ๐
oh well if we burn tollah it will save me dragging any fuel up in Ambrose's trailer ๐
It's looking more and more unlikely that I'll be there, despite my nice new tarp and paracord. Bah humbug!!
๐ BOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo ๐
bring the wee fella along ๐
I can lend him a bike if needed
I've a limited edition, 40 year old bottle of whiskey ... which I won't be bringing. Instead I'll be carrying some of Lidls finest tea bags.
Still having a mess around with a route, don't expect anything too taxing. SS should be fine but I think I'll be using a selection of gears ... but I could easily change my mind yet ๐
Still having a mess around with a route,
Hammock or not?
I'm hovering on the hammock/bivvy bag and tarp decision too.
Bivvy spot remains the same ... just how we get there might alter.
Hammocks will be fine ๐
Can someone give us locals a link to the start point please??
Could well venture down for this..
Centre of Machynlleth - Stuart suggested the former Celtica car park. So into Mach on the A489 to the T junction by the clock/monument thingy. Turn left and it is on your left after about 100m. IIRC correctly there is a leisure centre or swimming pool there as well.
Why do I not trust the smiley emoticon stu? Have the trees been chopped down now? Or something equally sinister.
They've been weakened socthey wont support my lardy arse!
