Well I had an overnight in Nant Rhys Bothy at the weekend to check over a few bits of kit. Think I've decided on which tyres I'll be using ๐Ÿ˜€

IanB- I'm staying at Nant Rhys this weekend- waht's the fuel situation like up there at the moment? Is the bowsaw in good shape? I am told there is no axe at the moment, so I'll take one with me.

IanB.

You could use the Larry?Endo? to carry enough red wine for everyone to get pishted. ๐Ÿ˜†

Ambrose, bow saw was there but didn't need to use it. We left a small bag of coal there Sunday am, so might still be there this weekend. The maintenace crew were there too, so might have left something.

Sstu, the wheel weighs enough as it is, I'm not filling it with wine as well! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I know mine has about half a bottle of Stans in. Good at stopping punctures, rubbish for drinking though. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yep.

Thought about trying to tubeless it but not sure it'd stay on the rim at 6 psi.

Plenty of snow here at present and -3 ... it's possible that the weather is confined to just our valley though ๐Ÿ™„

Just taken delivery of a thermolite bag liner which is meant to increase my bags range by 6 degrees ... we'll see.*I might be joining in with Ian and using 2 bags.

*Oddly, at first I wrote, I might be joining Ian in his 2 bags!!! good job I spotted that, eh ๐Ÿ˜‰

How many bail-outs do you reckon there will be before next weekend? ๐Ÿ˜‰
How much is plenty of snow?
How's the arm?

I won't comment on bail-outs ... 'spose I can't really as I've no real idea who's coming along ๐Ÿ˜€

Enough snow this afternoon for Dennis to go sledging!

Arm's still not great ta, would seem to be rsi (cue comments). I was instructing yesterday and it held up but hurt rather alot last night ... to the point of shouting **** me down the phone to my mum at one point as I tried to lift a brew up with it ๐Ÿ˜‰

OK- looks like I'm back in. This weekend's bothy trip has been postponed due to much wussiness. Family duties now re-aranged. Provided that I can actually get up to Mach through the predicted glacial weather I will be there with some of Lidl's finest.

I can't make this. Not been well and off the bike so think a cold bivvy would be the least sensible thing I could do.

Hi Teetosugars, I may take you up on that offer if that's ok? I'm based in Sheffield and could drive over to yours early Sat, doesn't seem to make sense to both take cars over to Wales

@stevemorg2

I guess to be in Mach for 1pm (for bag of chips and a pint) I would have to leave Aberdare about 11am (ish) what time were you thinking of?

@Ambrose - you are not allowed to drink calvados anymore ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bar mitts ordered this morning too. Later I shall be investigating which bag fits best into which bag without stopping either one lofting ... we know how to live, we do ๐Ÿ˜‰

Valleydaddy - was aiming to leave Cardiff @10.am - my only concern atm is how I'm going to carry all the kit - was OK with my 3 season bag and kit in a KIMM sac but I'm not sure where'll I'll manage to carry my Rab bag and the winter kit - will touch base in the week - do you need to borrow anything?

BTW - I posted on your Down jkt wanted post

ok Steve we'll speak in the week, I think I am ok for kit to be honest, only concern is the sleeping bag but may double up.

I managed to get a duvet jacket seemingly sorted down to -40c ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

so do we have a back up plan if the snow sticks around?? Bothy??

I know a few spots nearby with fireplaces and roofs. And a nice man who can deliver coal to the most unlikely of places.

thanks for the offer Steve but I think I should be ok, I'll let you know though if I need anything.

ok rack fitted to HT, panniers found.

Trailrakers fitted, but looking forward to seeing the big wheel monsters in the metal - thinking I may find a new niche to try ๐Ÿ˜›

need to find stove and check gas situation.

need to attach paracord to basha

then have a practice pack and balance weight over bike somehow.

Oddly my bike seems to be gaining a lb for every degree the temp drops!
