The Tour of Britain kicks off this weekend - 2 days in Scotland, then heading south before coming back up north to the Wirrl with the final stage running past my house (more or less)

There'll be a new champ this year as Deceunink QuickStep aren't racing, so Alan Philip can't defend his title. Interesting to see that Velogames rate Matthieu Van Der Poel so highly that he costs more than established World Tour Riders

Anyway, usual rules - pick a team you fancy, enter the mini leage and let's see how badly we all do

League Name: STW Fantasy TOB 2019
League Code: 868766020

Should be re-named 'Fantasy Tour of the Southern Half of Britain'.
They never ride anywhere interesting, like the upper half of the country, with proper hills...

I'm not speaking for the organiser, but I believe you need to get your local council to pay to host a stage.

I'd love to see an edition entirely north of the Central Belt though.

Agree about the tour not going up proper mountains.
However the stage near to us is fairly hilly. I'm just hoping they resurface the lanes near our house. After this years wet summer, the roads are a pothole and water damaged nightmare for speeding downhill (on skinny tyres).

Likewise, I'd love to see the race visit some proper mountains - but as previously discussed (at some length IIRC) there's the logistics of getting all the teams and support vehicles to / from the stage start / end points.

The Highlands are surprisingly easy logistically:
Perth to Aviemore via the ski roads, Glenshee & the Lecht. Masses of climbing and a big, mountain top car park to finish in. Aviemore town nearby for resources. Perth city for the pre-race overnight. Amazing helicopter visuals all day.

They'll be coming past our house next Saturday on their way up the horrible brutality that is The Rake, so its 'everyone round to ours' with the cowbells. 😀

*fires up rampant self-promotion mode*

If you're in the vicinity of Rammy next weekend I'm putting up a load of cycling themed prints in the Lounge cafe bar in town. But don't let that put you off. They're doing bloody great food all day and have a fantastic selection of beers. Cyclists are very welcome as the owners, Rob and Sarah, and keen cyclists (road and off-road) themselves
