hi all,
can anyone suggest why i can't get my skewer out of my hub? what can i do to remove it and if it is a snapped axle - is it fixable?
i'm just building up a new bike 🙁
skewer could have siezed in place, can you hit the end with a hammer to get it to move? which end has stuck?
You should be able to dismantle the hub with the aid of a hammer. They come apart quite easily. And Hope may be able to supply a new axle if it has broken. Mine did after 7 years.
crisis over! it was just seized, and knocked out with an allen key and hammer...
For future reference, if it gets stuck again, don't knock it out and risk damaging the threads. What you need to do is put an open end spanner between the nut and axle and use the QR can action to pull it out.
And coat it with copper grease when you put it back together to avoid a repeat incident.
