For the last 2 weeks every ride I have done strava has not recorded correctly.

Losing signal, recording too far, recording too fast, going off course.

I have deleted it and reinstalled it twice. I have backed everything up on my phone and cleared storage. Phone is working fine.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Can I add I only do strava to keep a distance record .  So if there is another app to do this that would be ace.

Where do you have your phone?

Does it have a clear line-of-sight to the sky?

Have you disabled any battery-saving mode that's disabling Strava when recording?

Odd. I use Strava for all my walks and rides on my android phone and never had that issue.

Another vote for battery saver mode cocking things up.

no battery saving mode on phone.  phone in pocket or saddle bag, as it always has been. and always worked fine.

Phone is knackered then. You could try factory resetting the whole thing but it's most likely a hardware issue.

Try another free gps app. If it’s the the same it’s the phone

usually those speed spikes are due to the phone losing GPS, and then giving you odd readings of speed and track when it regains signal (it will draw a straight line between where it lost signal and where it regains it) Also happens in city environments where tall buildings can confuse the signal.

I would hazard a guess that having it in a pocket (jersey back pocket less likely to lose signal) or saddlebag is causing it to lose signal at some points. Try it on the handlebars and see if that sorts it out.

If you want to try another app, you could use Polar Flow, or memorymap, but if it's losing signal the same issue arises.

I had this year's back.  Next update cured it but it had no impact on my wife's phone. Then hers did the same with a different update. Some glitch in the matrix.

anyone know if you can share komoot rides to your strava ?    so do my ride and record it with komoot, then share to strava so it adds mileage to my total ?

I think you can upload a file but maybe only from the web version.

My app doesn't offer a file upload but the link below seems to suggest it's possible but looks like a browser in the screen shots....

Have you tried turning the phone off, and on again?

(Serious suggestion! I've had this with my Sansung 2 or 3 times over the last 6 months; I'd get 2 or 3 rides where strava straight-lines sections of the ride, with random speed & distance. Turn the phone off and on again, and all has been good.)

I find my Garmin watch does a much better job of Strava than my Android phone. I assume it's just the quality of the GPS hardware.
