Hi Folks,
I've been merrily looking for a new 100 or 120mm Rockshox SID for a XC build with no knowledge there was/is a bushing issue with some of these forks. (I'd like one with a handlebar lock out lever)
What exactly is the "issue"?
Budget isn't fixed neither is new vs. SH but if there is a warrantable issue then I'd rather not take the chance with SH given the fact SH prices for these forks are quite high.
All help is much appreciated.
M
I believe that the issue is that the upper tube doesn't pass far enough through the bushes in the lower which leads to increased wear. That's my understanding but it may not be 100% accurate.
The way the fork is manufactured, bushes aren't replaceable so you need a complete lower when/if they wear.
I've got both the 100mm and 120mm forks on different bikes, the 120mm have just been returned under warranty for play in the bushes. The 100mm are fine.
The new 2024 SID has an upper tube that's 25mm longer so gives 50% more bushing engagement, according to their blurb.
