Love Starling as I own an Orange so love single pivot.
But
After Pinkbike’s gushing review of the Starling frame despite it not being brazed straight so the rear triangle was out.
Now Radavist who have again gushed numerous times out their build. Says they are going back to air as the coil
I hated the feeling of the rear tire rubbing the seat tube’
Is that not just bad design? Under full compression the tyre should not hit the frame no matter what shock you have on the bike if it’s the correct eye-2-eye and correct stroke
It says in the article it's on 2.6 tyres, and the build article is also on 2.6s- the Murmur's rated for only up to 2.5 on a 29er according to Starling's website, so it could just be that. The clearance looks pretty minimal in all his photos.
Been a while since I read those but I seem to remember the PB test was on an older age built rear end and the eye to has since changed.
I've run 2 shocks on mine and several tyres, all below 2.5" admittedly, but clearance has never been an issue.
Never had a clearance issue on my swoop.
I actually had clearance issues on my Swoop. Running a fox x2 with a dhr 2 2.4 rear tyre it would hit the seatpost tube on bottom out. Eventually figured out that the early x2 shocks don’t have bottom out bumpers as such so i swapped it out for a ccdb il coil shock which has a nice fat bottom out bumper and that solved the problem. Was still an issue that i was a little surprised to come across though, especially seeing as they are good for up to 2.5 tyres.
I never had a problem on my Swoop with 2.5 maxxis tyre running either a Topaz shock or Cane creek inline coil.
