probably a stupid qeustion but can i run sram x0 /x9 shifters with a shimano transmission?

If you use a SRAM shifter you need a SRAM rear mech.
The fronts are interchangeable.
You can also use any mix of chain and cassettes you like including chainrings.
Make sense?

Don't think X0/X9 is shimano rear compatible. Sram used to sell some Shimano compatible shifters but I think they were mid/low level range.
