Fitted a new dub bb and it's a smidge tight.

Checked everything and it looks ok. Just gets a little tight on the final nip up on the crank.

Any ideas?

DUB has a collar type thing on the BB for adjusting tightness, there's a little screw in it for locking it in position and then you can adjust by hand. If it's getting too tight when tightening the crank I would guess that's what needs adjustment.

Are you using the correct sized spacer, several come in the box and you only fit 1 on 1 side

Tensioners backed right off.

Using 4.5m spacer. If the 2mm is used it wont preload.

It's not horrendous but it's enough so you dint get s full rotation if you try and spin the crank.

Is your preload collar on the non drive side wound right off when you tighten the drive side bolt? I normally have a little side to side play before nipping up the preload collar just to remove that. I don’t think the cranks spin loads even before that without a chain - but not many cranks / bbs I’ve had do. That’s normal surely?

I’ve got dub cranks in a 73mm screw in bb. I think the cups screw into the frame with no spacers and then I just have a 4.5mm spacer that clicks into the drive side bb cup from memory.

Collar is right back against the arm. No free play to take out.

Its just a fraction tight. Not enough to bind but its tight.

It's like the spacer needs to be 4mm not 4.5.

Never had this issue before. Are the cups handed because they both look identical wonder if its possible for it to be packed weing.

Cups are handed with opposite threads. If you put them in the wrong side it would have been extremely difficult to thread them in and they would probably look skewed in the frame.

Is the 4.5 spacer fitted the correct way, it's keyed into the BB face if it's right, if not then the key will add extra depth to it.

Yep keyed right way.

Fitted them befire to this frame no issues.... this is just odd

You didn't add a spacer behind the BB did you?

Nope.

My feeling is it's 2 rh cups but I'm not sure.

Anyone got a new dub bb I can have a photo of?

Is the BB shell the correct width? You do get frames that are slighty out of spec.

Is it a push fit bottom bracket as there is no way you'd get a threaded one in the wrong way or two same handed cups without extreme force, and it certainly wouldn't come out again easily.

If the frame has had DUB btm brackets in before (with the same cranks) then it must be either the preload adjuster not being wound all the way in, there's some compacted dirt stopping it being installed fully, you've assembled if differently or the new btm bracket is out of tolerance.

I've had my fair share of problems with DUB cranks and bottom brackets. One of the annoying ones that wasn't immediately obvious is the preload adjuster had to have some tension from the locking hex in order to get the whole thing gripping on the shaft. If I backed the lock hex off totally, the whole thing spun and moved on the crank, thus not actually moving the nut on the thread.

Maybe this could be your problem although it's a tricky one as it just spins freely so you'd possibly not think it was unwound as it doesn't get tight against the crank arm. Worth a thought though.
