[Closed] Specialized warranty problem.. again!

To cut a long story short I've got a 07 stumpjumper pro carbon, so far i've had many sets of bearings (some to be expected considering wear and tear) one cracked chain stay and one cracked magnesium rocker plus 4-5 (lost count!) rear AFR shocks with brain. The last shock lasted one month.

Each time specialized have swiftly replaced all parts free of charge with no hassle, however it is now getting beyond a joke. I'm getting fed up with taking the bike to bits and putting up with dud replacement shocks. Where do I stand from a refund/ replacement frame/ compensation point of view? I like the bike but am rapidly losing patience

I know there are major issues with some of the AFR shocks, has anyone got beyond replacements or has advice on the legal stand point.

Cheers,
Gareth

I'm not the only one then?
Am on my second front triangle, second shock/brain and its started leaking, second set of bearings, thought at 1 year old that was wear and tear (they weren't fitted squarely either) rear bearings, and second headset waiting to be fitted

I'm on my 6th Epic shock since I bought the bike on the 30th december 2008.
You could say I'm not impressed.

Thanks James, good to know its not just me (should stop those 40ft gap jumps maybe!). Mr Nutt - lifetime on frame, 1 year on shock, I'm left wondering where I stand if I just demand a refund based on the arguement that the the bike is not fit for purpose. Not good after spending 3k,

Gareth

Cost lots of £ but not fit for purpose - I'd want my money back.

"lifetime on frame, 1 year on shock"

Really?
Maybe I should've sent my shock back when I first discovered it was slowly leaking then? (Given it was under a year old then ..)

Does anyone know what the legal stance is on a warranty claim like this? or had any similar experience with other companies?

Yep I had four or five spesh shocks on mine (stumpy pro carbon) pivot bushings slso pretty soft, although once replaced i had no trouble after that,Magura marta brakes also were replaced on three occassions due to the levers going to half travel. (five year warranty)headset lasted 600 miles.

Gone back to single pivot now less bother! 😉

Sounds like it is not fit for the purpose. Sale of good act can help you in some circumstances up to six years after the date of purchase.

Get together with other owners and start a class action.

Don't give up, keep giving them pressure.

Specialized are big enough to take the knock and would not like the negative publicity.

This thread makes me want a hardtail with rigid carbon forks!

Good luck.

Cheers spongebob, will have a look on the web about citizens advice etc. Have a rigid hardtail too with nice simple carbon forks, sometimes its nice to have a simple albeit bumpy ride!

Keep going and it sounds like they'd have replaced the whole bike anyway. The Specialized Stumpjumper Triggers Broom Pro.
"Yea, it's an 07 Stumpjumper, with 09 rear triangle, '09 front triangle, '09 shocks, '09 rockers..."
