Off darn sarf to sunny Devon for a week, staying just north of Kingsbridge.
Can anyone recommend any routes (gpx if poss - I'm idle) in that general area, or southern Dartmoor generally?
cheers
Simon

If you've got a car, get across to eastern Dartmoor. You've no idea just how good it is.

I've plenty of MM files if you need them.

Thanks for the responses.
MM and gpx files all good.
I think my mail is in my profile, any chance you could mail them to me?
That would be great! ๐Ÿ˜€

Alternatively if you fancy a group ride, get yourself down to Plymouth.. The Yogis are a local Road and MTB club and have group rides on Tuesday and Thursday nights. They know all of the best local trails, and are a pretty friendly bunch ๐Ÿ™‚ Ride details here: http://yogi.terapad.com/

There's Haldon forest trail centre as well.

Perhaps not as good as the well-known trail centres, but worth a visit.

correction then. i'm my opinion haldon is complete gash, I have been there a number of times and always come away dissapointed.

on the other hand, the area round lustleigh does indeed rock...

the hidden stuff at haldon is quite good but alas the red route isn't.
TM, thanks for the offer of the routes, i have then ones you did for the ST mag issue 49 already and know the east moor area pretty well however i just require a few nudges in the direction of any hidden gems to link up/extend my usual routes..(which will pretty much be the same as yours) oh and can you point out on a map for me the vitifier mine singletrack please, that looks good but we always come up from soussons wood so miss it out/cant find it.
cheers

Ooooo. Thinking of heading off down Devon way to see the in laws in a few weeks. If anyone would be as kind as to forward any of the mentioned routes around the Lustleigh/Bovey area that would be absolutely fantastic! Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

If someone could send me some gpx files I'd really appreciate it. Also staying with the in-laws down there and the novelty of haldon has worm off.

They are five minutes from my house. Great DH from easy through to as steep and techy as you'll get in this country.

Ish. Triscombe used to be my local spot. I still like going back there but overall I prefer woodlands.

Race at gawton this weekend if you fancy it.

we are coming down the following weekend for a day at Triscombe and then somewhere else. looks like the woodlands to me! is the Gawton stuff more DH and the woodlands more flowy?

share the love indeed TM, inbox is now awash with new route. many thanks.

@ si, ive built a fair few trails in my local area (cann woods + around) for all to use so its nice for others to share what they know to me..its all good karma and to grease the wheels surely is good for all that ride.
personally i love people using my tracks and getting feedback off what they think of it .

Trailmonkey - moved to South Devon from Wiltshire, I'd appreciate any nice XC routes you could send me on East or South Dartmoor. I don't have any trail software, just use an OS map, so just a starting point / ref with any major / obvious waymarks would be good. Thanks

bertberr, issue 49 of the mag has 3 routes featuring the cream of all the legal stuff on eastern dartmoor. the latest MBR also has a very useable route in it. there's usually a ride most weekends featuring folks on here so just put a post up on a friday asking for a guide and i'm sure you'll get invited along.

trailmonkey - thank you very much - looks good.

As it will be first time riding the routes when I go down, does anyone know of any groups that head out during the week/early weekday evenings? Would be looking w/c 23/08

Hooch,
there's a friendly wednesday night right on haldon. 6.30 at the Ley Arms pub in kenn.
speed varies depending upon who's out, but it's very rarely a ball-breaker - normally a very social affair.
usually about 16 - 17 miles or so, about 800- 1000m rise and fall including the climb up.
